Today is my dads 68th birthday. A year and one week ago, he was diagnosed with stage four metastasized esophageal cancer that had spread to his liver, many lymph nodes, tailbone and collar bone, and was told his stage of type of cancer had an average life expectancy of a year, and the longest his doctor has had a patient live past this was 7 years. Well my dad did the math and said “I’m gonna break his record and more than double it, to see baby Hogan (my 3 yr old nephew) graduate from high school. He’s been fighting hard and taking the Chemo on the chin, and his cancer spots and tumor having been getting much smaller, but unfortunately so has he. Last year he weighed 205, Christmas he weighed 168 fought to get back up to 170, then dropped to the 150’s in January, now he’s down in the 130’s. This week he wrote this to his brothers and sister and the rest of our family: “Well Sunday the 24th marked 12 months since we received the news that I have cancer and was told that the average life expectancy with this type of cancer is 12 months. Now having survived 12 months and 3 days it is a little disappointing that I am considered just a little better than average!!! Never wanted to be just average! So I will live on for a while.”

Repeat.” As he looked in the mirror, in his state of starvation on the way to Chemo one morning he saw the word EAT within the word Repeat. He found his new mantra, in his fight to experience more of baby Hogans growing up. 🕊🤍🥊🥊🥊 Please pray for my dads mind and body to be able to eat calories so he can continue down this path he hopes for…Keep fighting dad.
