As we prepare to celebrate our nation's independence with fireworks displays, it's crucial to remember the safety and legal aspects of using fireworks.

Every year, thousands of people, including many children and young adults, suffer injuries from fireworks — even seemingly harmless sparklers burn at 2,000 degrees, hot enough to melt some metals. Additionally, fireworks that malfunction or are used improperly start an average of 19,000 fires each year.

March 1, 1872 - This day marks the establishment of the first national park in the United States and the world. Yellowstone National Park was set aside as a public park for the benefit and enjoyment of the people.

March 2, 1965 - The premiere of the iconic film "The Sound of Music" took place on this day. The movie, based on the true story of the Von Trapp Family singers, became one of the most beloved musicals of all time.

March 10, 1876 - Alexander Graham Bell made the first successful telephone call, saying, "Mr. Watson, come here. I want to see you." This breakthrough in communication technology revolutionized the way we connect worldwide.
