🌳 Storm Damage Checklist After Last Night's Winds 🌬️
If your property was affected by the storm, here are a few important steps to take before starting cleanup:
✅ Take photos of all damage before moving or removing anything.
✅ Prevent further damage if it is safe to do so (tarp a roof, board up broken windows, etc.).
✅ Save receipts for any emergency repairs.
✅ Do not dispose of damaged items until speaking with your insurance company.
✅ Be cautious of storm-chasing contractors. Never feel pressured to sign a contract immediately.
✅ If a tree fell, take photos showing where it originated and what it damaged.
⚠️ Important: Not all tree damage is covered the same way.
• A tree falling onto a covered structure may be covered under your policy.
• Tree removal is often limited and may only be covered under certain circumstances.
• Trees that fall without damaging a covered structure may not be covered at all.
• Coverage varies by policy and company.
If you have questions about damage to your home, outbuildings, vehicles, or other property, contact your insurance agent before assuming coverage applies.
Stay safe, and please use caution around downed trees, power lines, and damaged structures.
