Joe McGee: Allstate Insurance Home, Auto, Business and Life Insurance I started representing Allstate Insurance in 2011 when I was looking for a great small business opportunity.

I wanted to serve the community where I lived, and I built my agency on the values of hard work, genuine relationships, and comradery. To me, those values are essential when working with families and helping them protect what matters most. I enjoy developing long-term relationships with community members and getting to know them and their families. Katy and the surrounding area are thriving, diverse communities, and I’m proud to be part of them. Each year, our agency supports local teams and organizations, and we’re especially proud of our continued partnership with Kids Unlimited. At home, my wife and I are raising three kids, along with our dog. As a family, we love spending time outdoors, and exploring local, state, and national parks. Personally, I’ve hiked and backpacked some well-known trails, and when I’m not on the trail, I can usually be found at home with the family—whether that’s grilling, or sitting around the table for a competitive round of board games with my kids. “Be generous” is the motto at our agency—especially when it comes to serving customers. Families count on us to be there if tragedy strikes, and we don’t take that responsibility lightly. Our team is knowledgeable in many types of insurance, and we’re committed to helping you find the coverage that fits your needs. Dark country road, brush on both sides, and a deer steps out. Straight into a Honda Accord driven by a 19 year old.

He was right not to swerve. But that deer did far more damage than you would guess. Hood, grille, bumper, lights, a fender pushed into the tire, doors that will not open on one side.

The kid is fine. That is the part that matters.

Here is what most people do not know. Not every claim is treated the same way. An animal hit sits in a different category than a regular collision.

Feeling overwhelmed? Same.

Talked to one of my favorite mentors today, Herman Davis. Some days I almost do not want to call him, because I know he is going to pull me out of whatever mood I am in.

He reminds me of the same thing every time. You asked for this. You wanted something big. You wanted something extraordinary. That does not show up without the work.

He ends every conversation the same way. If it was easy, anybody would do it.

So if today is one of those days, maybe this is the thing you asked for finally showing up. Pick yourself up.

Out at the Sugar Land Town Center Jaguar show today, and it is a good reminder.

If you keep a collector car on your regular auto policy, you are probably not covered the way you think. A standard policy pays actual cash value, the depreciated number. Not what that car is actually worth.

70 bands. 14 make finals. My son's marching band finished 7th overall at Bands of America in St. Louis.

That does not happen overnight. Those kids put in years of early mornings and work nobody was watching. Excellent practice is what makes an excellent routine once the lights come on.

Same idea everywhere else. Plan for the best, prepare for the worst, and you get to enjoy the rest of it.

Myth I hear all the time, and it costs people real money when a fire actually happens.

Fifteen years writing homeowners policies in Texas. If nobody has ever walked you through what your policy would actually do after a fire, that is worth an afternoon of your time.

Money is tight and the tax bill went up. Can I just drop coverage to save a few dollars?

Maybe. But that is the last place I want to look, not the first.

Discounts first, because those cost you nothing in protection. Then deductibles, set where you are actually comfortable. Then the rating factors on the policy. Coverage is the last lever I touch.
