If a Medicare agent ever sits across from you and starts pitching plans without first asking you to sign a Scope of Appointment — get up and walk out.

That one-page form is YOUR protection. Not the agent’s paperwork. Not a formality.

The federal government created it because too many seniors were getting steered into the wrong plans by people who shouldn’t have been there in the first place. It exists to put a fence around your time and your decisions.
What it IS:

✓ Your written record of what topics you agreed to discuss
✓ A line the agent cannot legally cross
✓ One of the strongest consumer protections Medicare has
You should be on the lookout for these red flags that your Medicare agent is the wrong one for you:

“Medicare is free.”

That’s wrong. And I hear it a lot.

Here’s today’s coaching point: Medicare has four parts — A, B, C, and D. Depending on which ones you have, you could be paying anywhere from $0 to several hundred dollars a month.

→ Part A: Most people get it premium-free if they’ve worked 40 quarters. ✅
→ Part B: $202.90 a month in 2026 for most beneficiaries. That’s just the baseline.
→ Add a Part D drug plan and a supplement, and now we’re talking real money. Money that comes out of your Social Security check before it ever hits your bank account.

Medicare’s new drug price negotiation program means that 10 high-cost medications now have federally negotiated lower prices for 2026.
