Deborah Brodt, Texas Licensed Benefit Advisor Licensed Life, Accident & Health Insurance Agent in State of Texas. Retired RN.

As a retired RN, I enjoy providing assistance with life and health solutions through variety of products designed to meet needs of individuals , families and/or small businesses. In 2021, I experienced difficulty obtaining accurate information relative to Medicare Insurance. This experience had a negative effect on my health care in the 1st quarter of 2021. I became deterred to immerse myself in the world of insurance and help others find solutions that best meet their needs.

Good morning all. I wanted to share a recipe I have been using the last 3 years. It is a Paleo recipe for banana bred. I usually prepare as muffins vs loaf as they store easily in the refrigerator and last 4-5 days, if you don't eat them sooner. As both a Diabetic and Gluten Intolerant, these muffins are a healthy snack. Made with Almond Flour, eggs, bananas.... Enjoy.

The best healthy banana bread that's paleo, gluten-free, grain-free, dairy-free, and refined sugar-free. This recipe tastes like old-fashioned homemade banana bread!

Update: In December 2022, I put my work as a Medicare Insurance Agent on hold. As a newly licensed agent, I contracted with an independent insurance agency in hopes of assisting my fellow seniors with Medicare health solutions. Through this experience I became aware of industry standard practices that I was not in agreement with from an ethical point of view. I ended my affiliation until such time I am able to identify alternative methodology.

I will keep you updated. In the meantime I have a few recommendations for you in your selection of an insurance plan to meet your needs.

1. Be aware of your medical needs as it relates to your insurance needs. Plans are not all alike. They vary in deductibles to be met, copays by service, additional benefits.... Since was are individuals, our needs can vary person to person. I recommend until the next enrollment period later in 2023, you keep a log of your copays and deductible requirements to assist with you decision for a plan in 2024.

2. Go to Medicare.com and set up an account so that you can view available plans by zip code. This is an excellent site to compare insurance plans. This is the only site I am aware of that will give a complete picture of all plans involved. You will also find ratings of each insurance plan. These ratings are based on several factors, one of which is surveys of insured individuals, other ratings deal with medicare's analysis of health services provided. You can research this and find more information if you choose.

3. This is very important. Be fully aware that any insurance agent you speak to only represents a small group of plans. It is impossible for any one given agent to represent all of the plans in your area, there are just too many and the contracting process with each insurance company is lengthy and somewhat complex. Just know that you will not be given the full picture, only the picture that includes the carriers the agent is licensed with. This is my primary reason for recommending Step 2 above.

4. I will happily answer any questions for you that you might have. I definitely learned a great deal in 2022 regarding this industry. This combined with my prior years of experience as a Registered Nurse gives me a unique perspective. I am not on FB daily, but I will respond when I receive you message. I truly wish to be of assistance to all who might benefit.

I am not extremely proficient with FB. I actually thought I had posted this update earlier this year, but see no record of that post as I viewed my page today. Sorry for the delay in posting. Love to you all, wishes of good health, and much heart felt joy!!!

Hello. I wanted to touch base and update you all on my current status. I ended my affiliation with the insurance agency I was working with December 2022. I entered into that relationship with a desire to assist Seniors with identifying the best Medicare plan to meet their needs. I quickly learned Insurance Agents are limited by the plans the organization they affiliate with are contracted to sell. These plans cannot possibly be all inclusive as their are so many insurance plans and carriers in the industry.

Thus, I found myself conflicted with not being able to identify the best plan for each individual - choices were very limited. There were additional factors which went against my own professional ethics which contributed to my decision to end this venture.

I have spent the last few months reviewing all of my options and will make a decision prior to 2023 annual enrollment period of how and if I want to continue this journey. I have most definitely learned much for which I am grateful.

I do want to make you all aware that you have until the end of March to change the Medicare plan you chose for 2023. That option is available to all. My recommendation for how to best identify the plan that fits your needs and budget is to go to medicare.gov - set up and account (log in) if you have not already done so - compare the plans available in your area.

If you desire assistance, I will be happy to help you navigate this site by phone. Contact me via messenger.

If the Devoted Insurance Medicare Advantage Plan is available in your area, I recommend you review the specifics of that plan. Each person's needs vary by your own budget and your own medical status. Don't let other's influence you based on their own experience without further exploring the benefits and deductibles as they relate to you - those are your key factors.

Love to you all, Deborah

I have decided to use this FB page to communicated health information I and my friends experience in hopes of assisting others. Some of you may know I have been in chronic pain since the early 1980s due to gradual deterioration of my spine. My current MRI reveals 14 herniated discs, cervical spinal stenosis, lumbar spinal stenosis and spondylosis. Next week I am participating in a test of this spinal stimulator as a drug free method of pain management. I am excited about the potential this device offers. More information to come.

I have much respect for the work Mark Hyman, MD to help us better understand nutrition and the affect it has on our body. I agree that we should consider food as medicine that supports all the functions of our physical body. Please eat healthy, check out Mark Hyman's FB page. Also remember Open Enrollment is a very good time to review the choices you make with your health care and insurance coverage.

Tomorrow, for the first time in over 50 years, the White House is hosting a conference on nutrition. This is a monumental opportunity for experts in the space of nutrition and policy to come together and update our policies to address the burden of chronic disease caused by ultra-processed food.

As a physician on the frontlines of medicine, understanding the full effect of what proper nutrition can do to save someone’s life, reverse disease, and create health, I am honored to be attending this event and sharing what I’ve learned over the last 30+ years of practicing. Real food and better food policies can transform our sick world into a healthy one.

I want you at this conference too! If you care about the state of nutrition and making real, whole, nutritiously grown food more accessible, watch the White House Conference live.

Tomorrow at 9:30 am ET / 6:30 am PT you’ll be able to view panels on food as medicine, nutrition research, farming practices, and more here: https://bit.ly/3fogVg2
