Northwestern Caribbean Sea and eastern Gulf of Mexico: A broad area of low pressure is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Environmental conditions appear conducive for gradual development of this system, and a tropical depression is likely to form late this weekend or early next week.

Nicholas is now a tropical storm. Significant rainfall amounts are expected, potentially resulting in areas of life-threatening flash and urban flooding. Heavy rainfall will impact areas from the upper coast of Texas, across Louisiana, and southern Mississippi.
