Edward Jones-Financial Advisor: Mike Steffen Throughout my life, helping others has been an integral part of who I am. My background in education grounds me in the service of others. Member SIPC.

I chose a career in financial services because I believe I can make a difference in the lives of families in my community. At Edward Jones, we strive to make sure clients feel heard, and that we understand their unique story. We also work to help clients understand the investment world in terms they can relate to. Prior to joining the team at Edward Jones, I served band and orchestra teachers acro

ss Missouri and eastern Kansas for 12 years as their Educational Representative from P***n Music Center. My goal was to make their lives in the classroom easier through professional development, networking, and instrument repair services. Loving people and having taught band for eight years myself, I had a great time serving them! I am married to my high school sweetheart Miranda, and I am the proud papa to three wonderful girls - Melody, McKenna, and Mae - and one boy pup, Louie! Our lives are filled with music, dance, theatre, and cheering on KC sports teams!

I don’t know about you, but I have always been enamored with artwork that changes depending on the viewing angle! Because of that, I have really been looking forward to finding this one! I will post videos in the comments so you can get the full effect.

“Change Your Perspective” by Trey Morgan can be found in the historic W 39th area of KC, just east of the Kansas state line. It’s in the shadow of the University of Kansas Hospital, and around the corner from the restaurant Jazz: a Louisiana Kitchen.

"’Change Your Perspective’ encourages viewers to look at things differently. When viewed straight on the hearts messages are an incoherent jumble, but if you step to the side and view it at a 45 degree angle the diagonal panels align and messages become readable. From two angles the heart appears closed off, reminding views to keep their heart open and choose empathy over hate.”

After beginning the year with markets pricing in multiple rate cuts, a sharply accelerating labor market and energy-driven inflation have meaningfully shifted the outlook toward potential policy tightening — creating a more complex backdrop for equities and fixed income alike. Senior Economist James McCann explains what this could mean for investors in our Weekly Market Wrap.

Happy Sunday!
Father’s Day is two weeks away - it’s a day I always look forward to and I’ll share in a future post.

Today’s heartwork is entitled “Cultivating Hope & Growing Harmony” by artist Leslie L Mason and is close to KC’s Hospital Hill.

📍2506 Holmes St
Kansas City, MO 64108

“This design symbolizes the nurturing of hope - like planting seeds of optimism and care - that blossoms into harmony, unity and diversity. Just as flowers, and winged creatures come together in a vibrant, colorful way, so to can people from all walks of life grow together in peace and understanding. Through hope, we cultivate a world where harmony thrives.”

Wishing you a wonderful week ahead! Go find - or better yet, make some art! 🫶

Happy Pride!!🌈

Spent today at KC’s Pride Parade and Pride Fest with my youngest. As an ally, I love attending this event each year with her and celebrating love of all stripes!

🫶BONUS - we found another heart by the Ewing & Marion Kauffman Foundation!🫶

I love the KC skyline and how all of the pieces of the puzzle list unique jobs/identities that fit together to make up our amazing community!

“CommUnity Through CommonUnity” by KC Metro Fellowship

📍4801 Rockhill Rd
Kansas City, MO 64110

“Kansas City was built on division, but today a movement toward unity is taking root — from the Parade of Hearts to the Rock Island Bridge to Sporting KC’s call of “Two States, One City.” By finding common ground and embracing our differences, we turn them into sources of strength. United, we have the power to shape a stronger city, nation, and world.”

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

I found this beautiful heartwork right next to Big Brothers Big Sisters Kansas City in the Crossroads District.

📍1709 Walnut St
Kansas City, MO 64108

Artist Evan “Doodle Dood” Brown calls this piece “International Heartland” and has this to say about it:

“‘International Heartland’ highlights both Kansas City’s growing global presence as a World Cup host city and its relevance in the American Midwest. The front of my design centers on the Kansas City skyline, an iconic meeting point for citizens of both Kansas and Missouri. A soccer ball, with a trail of colors reminiscent of the 2026 World Cup branding, swoops around to embrace the city, uniting our hometown with the global brilliance of the World Cup. These elements highlight Kansas City’s role as an American soccer hub, acknowledging that athletics bridge state lines and ocean barriers, uniting people from all walks of life. The back provides a funky photo opportunity, embodying a metaphorical tunnel to the heart. This side serves as the inception point of the colors in the swooping shapes on the front, creating a single contiguous design theme that pays homage to our amazing city while taking advantage of the unique new cutout in the center.”

🌼Have you seen this one? 🌼

Taking pics of this heartwork was a little challenging since it was at night after a performance I had in Lee’s Summit, but I still managed to get some decent ones!

It is located in downtown Lee’s Summit’s new Green Street area - which is an outdoor gathering space and a seasonal farmer’s market!

“Upcycled Flora Missouri State Flower, White Hawthorn” by Katie Kramer

“My design features the heart sculpture adorned with hand-painted flowers crafted entirely from recycled plastic bottles. Each bloom represents the native flower of Missouri, the White Hawthorn, celebrating the state’s natural beauty while highlighting environmental responsibility. The repurposed bottles, beneath the soft white, yellow, pink and green paint, give the piece a textured, 3D surface that speaks to renewal and creativity while being a tribute to the state of Missouri.”
