Confession: I’ll absolutely eyeball a property for a client early in the homebuying process.

Am I a certified home inspector? No.

Can I spot a cracked foundation, water damage, or the kind of “character” that turns into a five figure repair bill from 50 paces? Absolutely.

After enough homes, you develop a sixth sense for potential and a healthy instinct for the ones that deserve a quick “hard pass.”

I love camping. Like, “load up the kids and hit every state park” level camping.

Thankfully, my kids inherited the same love for the great outdoors. It’s the perfect escape from the day to day, even if only for a weekend.

That said, I also love home mortgages. So, while we’ve got a couple camping trips on the books this summer, my laptop is coming along for the ride. This is busy season at US Mortgage Connection, and campfire or not, clients still need homes.

Some home loans come in clean and simple. Others show up like they are determined to test everyone involved.

The difficult ones usually include tight timelines, shifting income details, or last-minute documentation surprises. They are the files where patience and communication matter as much as the numbers.

What I have learned is that complexity is not the problem. Lack of clarity is. My goal is to make sure everyone at US Mortgage Connection stays aligned for our clients — because even the most complicated loans can make it to the finish line.

If my kid’s first words aren’t “refinance” or “amortization,” I’m going to have some questions about what we’ve even been doing around here.

He’s already become a bit of a celebrity at the office. Clients walk in ready to talk numbers, rates, and timelines, and within about 30 seconds they’re completely sidetracked.

Do I get anything accomplished when he’s around? Let’s just say productivity takes a noticeable dip.

Do clients love him more than their incredibly low interest rates? Honestly … it’s close, and I don’t blame them.
