Here's why you can't stay on track with your budget 👇🏾

You have all of the tools available but none of the ingredients are there 😬. Building a successful budget isn't just about writing down your bills and income. It's about building a financial strategy to reach your short term and long-term financial goals 🥅

And in order to build a better relationship with your money 💰 so that you can become financially free, you'll need these key 🗝️ ingredients ⬇️

💎 Income - Start by listing out ALL sources of income. Leave nothing out ‼️

💎 Expenses - List out all of your expenses. Don't forget about that $4.99 Peacock subscription either 👀. The small subscriptions will add up!

💎 Fixed Expenses - Check ✅ in on those recurring expenses like rent/mortgage payments, insurance payments etc

💎 Variable Expenses - These are the expenses you can cut back on. You know you don't need all those streaming services 😜

💎 Savings & Investments - Pay yourself first by putting money away into a HIS or an investment account

💎 Debt Repayment - Make regular payments to any outstanding debt to reduce interest charges

💎 Financial Goals - Self-explanatory 🤷🏾‍♀️. Build attainable financial goals so you have something to strive for

💎 E-Fund - Prepare for an emergency 🚨 by creating a category for your emergency fund

💎 Budget Categories - Keep track of your finances by splitting them up into categories like housing, healthcare, food, miscellaneous, etc

💎 Budget Period - Will your budget be monthly, quarterly or annual? This will be dependent on your income frequency

💎 Budgeted Amounts - Each budget category should have a set limit or amount. It's important that you don't ❌ go over the threshold

💎 Tracking & Monitoring - Lastly, track and monitor your finances. You can use budgeting apps, spreadsheets, or my all-time favorite, notebooks 📒

Using these key 🗝️ components has allowed me to build a better relationship with not only my money, but my credit too 🤯

Ready to do the same? Drop "BUDGETME" below 👇🏾, and I'll get you scheduled with a 1:1 personalized budgeting overview with me 😊

Here's the truth about your money 👇🏾

There's no one size fits all solution to saving. Depending on your financial situation, there are multiple ways that you can reach a specific financial goal 🥅

But if you're just starting out on our financial journey and need a starting point 📍, I highly recommend the 50/30/20 budgeting rule. This strategy allows you to allocate your funds into 3️⃣ separate categories so that you can keep up with your spending 🫰🏾 and saving 🏦.

Here's how it works:

💎 50% for Needs: Allocate approximately 50% of your income to essential expenses or "needs." These include:
- Housing: Rent or mortgage payments, property taxes, and utilities.
- Transportation: Car payments, insurance, fuel, and public transportation.
- Groceries: Food and other essential household items.

💎 30% for Wants: Use around 30% of your income for discretionary spending or "wants." These are things you desire but are not absolutely necessary. This category can include:
- Dining out
- Entertainment (movies, concerts, hobbies)
- Travel
- Non-essential shopping

💎 20% for Savings and Debt Repayment: Allocate at least 20% of your income to savings and debt repayment. This is crucial for building an emergency fund, saving for retirement, paying down debt, and meeting your financial goals.
- Emergency fund: Save at least 3-6 months' worth of living expenses in case of unexpected financial setbacks.
- Retirement contributions: Contribute to retirement accounts like a 401(k) or an IRA.
- Debt repayment: Pay down high-interest debts like credit card balances or student loans.

So here's the challenge ⬇️

I challenge you to write down all of your monthly expenses and separate them into these 3️⃣ categories and then head back here and let me know if you're in the green ✅ or in the red ❌ once all of your expenses have been allocated.

If you're in the red ❌ and need guidance on how you can work towards a better financial future, drop "BUDGETME" and I'll give you a special discount on my 1:1 budgeting session 😉

Are you Frugal or Cheap 👀

Here's my unpopular opinion about saving money 👇🏾

You don't ❌ have to be cheap to do it!

Saving money is not about buying the most inexpensive, low-quality alternative. It's about finding ways to save without giving up the things that make you happy 😄

Here are some key differences between being frugal and being cheap that will surprise you 🫢:

➡️ Mindset:
✅ Frugal: Being frugal means being mindful of your spending, making deliberate choices to save money while maintaining a reasonable quality of life.
❌ Cheap: Being cheap often involves prioritizing the lowest cost above all else, even if it means sacrificing quality or the well-being of others.

➡️ Quality vs. Cost:
✅ Frugal: Frugal individuals seek value for their money. They may buy quality items that last longer, even if they cost a bit more upfront.
❌ Cheap: Cheap individuals focus solely on the lowest price, often opting for the cheapest option, even if it means a lower-quality product.

➡️ Long-Term vs. Short-Term:
✅ Frugal: Frugality often involves thinking about long-term financial goals, like saving for retirement or emergencies.
❌ Cheap: Cheapness tends to be more focused on immediate cost-cutting without considering long-term consequences.

➡️ Social Considerations:
✅ Frugal: Frugal people are mindful of social situations and are willing to spend on experiences and gifts when it matters to maintain relationships.
❌ Cheap: Cheap individuals may avoid social situations or be excessively thrifty, potentially straining relationships.

Here's the key 🗝️ takeaway: Being frugal is about making thoughtful choices to maximize your resources without compromising your happiness 😄 or the well-being of others. It's all about having balance and living within your means while working towards your financial goals 💰

So tell me ➡️ Are you Frugal or Cheap 👀. I'll meet you in the comments 🏃🏾‍♀️💨

I shouldn't even be telling you this but 👇🏾

There is more than one way you can budget your monthly finances 🤯

💰 Let's break down the 4 methods of budgeting you can start using today. 🧮 Swipe left to discover the differences and why budgeting matters! 🤔

Traditional Budgeting: 👉 Keep it simple! Build on last year's budget with minor tweaks. 🔄 Easy, but may miss cost-saving opportunities.

Zero-Based Budgeting: 💡 Start from scratch each time! 💰 Question every expense, say goodbye to waste. ♻️ A deep dive into your finances.

Activity-Based Budgeting: 🏭 Tailored budgets for different activities or departments. 📈 Better resource allocation where it counts most.

Flexible Budgeting: 🔄 Roll with the punches! Adjust as your circumstances change. ⚖️ Ideal for industries with varying production levels.

What this means to you is: 💁‍♂️ Effective budgeting = Financial control and growth! 📈 Whether you're a business or an individual, these methods can transform your financial game. 🚀

🤩 My personal favorite is Zero-Based Budgeting! It forces you to be laser-focused on where your money goes and ensures you're not wasting a dime. I highly suggest that you try it out! 💪
