This weekend, Angelique Cheatem, had the pleasure of hosting a financial education workshop for 5th and 6th graders with the Jack and Jill St. Louis Chapter.
Through an interactive game of Monopoly, she explored key financial concepts such as needs vs. wants, smart decision-making, and the basics of money management. It was inspiring to see such engagement and curiosity as we worked to build a strong foundation for financial literacy at an early age.

Please join us in welcoming Neel Campbell to Pathway Financial Education as our new Small Business Program Manager! 👏

Neel brings over 20 years of experience in leadership and organizational growth, with a unique background spanning entrepreneurship, finance, hospitality, operations, franchising, and sales. He has contributed to results at organizations like McDonald’s Corporation, Merrill Lynch, Hilton Hotels, and Bank of America. AND he’s equally passionate about the work that happens outside of a job title: mentoring, developing others, and making a community impact.

Neel’s heart for people development and his proven leadership experience will be a huge asset as Pathway continues growing our services for small business owners across the region.

Welcome to the team, Neel! We’re so glad you’re here! 🎉

Taking a short winter pause December 22 through January 2 ❄️

Over the next two weeks, many of the schools, community partners, and organizations we serve are also on winter break, so we’re taking a brief pause alongside them.

This time allows our team to rest, reflect, and recharge as we head into a new year of financial education and community impact.

That said, our phones and inboxes will remain open during this time, and we’ll continue to respond as needed.

Thank you for being part of the Pathway community. We’re grateful for this season of rest and look forward to what’s ahead.

Today is Giving Tuesday, and here’s the truth...

Most people have no idea what it actually costs to run the programs and services Pathway provides completely free to the community.

🔹 A single 1:1 financial coaching session can cost $150–$250 in the private market.
🔹 Our 8-week small business course would easily cost $800–$1,200 elsewhere.
🔹 Adult financial education workshops typically run $75–$150 per session.
🔹 Youth curriculum and classroom instruction often cost schools thousands per year.
🔹 Staff certifications, resources, and tools require ongoing investment to keep our programs strong and relevant.

But at Pathway, every workshop, every coaching session, every curriculum resource, and every business course is provided 100% free.

Why? Because financial education shouldn’t be a luxury.

When you give to Pathway today, you make this possible.

Your generosity keeps our community’s most valuable financial resources completely accessible.

Giving Tuesday is tomorrow, and every gift to Pathway tells a story.

It’s the story of a student like Kya, who opened her first credit card and took a confident step into financial independence.

It’s the story of Angelique, who has earned her credit counseling certification so she can support more families with expert guidance.

It’s the story of teachers in Kansas City, who will soon receive professional development as our youth curriculum expands.

It’s the story of equity and access, as we translate our curriculum into Spanish to reach learners of every background.

And it’s the story of capacity, allowing us to strengthen our systems, deepen our partnerships, and eventually expand our team.

Your support this Giving Tuesday turns these stories into reality.

If Pathway has impacted you, your family, or your community, we invite you to make a gift and help us bring financial empowerment to even more adults, youth, and small business owners across Kansas City.

You can give now at https://pathwayeducation.org/donate/.

Thank you for helping us build a community where financial confidence and stability are within reach for everyone.

This Thanksgiving, we’re reflecting on an incredible year of impact and the people who made it possible.

Thank you for learning with us, supporting us, and believing in our mission.

Happy Thanksgiving from Pathway! 🍁

Financial empowerment is more than courses and coaching; it’s the relationships formed, the confidence built, and the possibilities people begin to see for themselves and their families.

This year, LISC Greater Kansas City invited us to be part of their Thrive celebration, highlighting the work happening across Kansas City to strengthen communities. We were grateful for the chance to share who we are, what we’re working toward, and, most importantly, the voices of those shaping Pathway’s story every day: the participants taking steps toward stability, the team walking alongside them, and the partners who make this work possible.

Being part of Thrive alongside so many dedicated organizations and leaders was a reminder of what can happen when our community comes together to create opportunity, hope, and long-term financial independence.
