Citizens Defense Oregon Concealed carry, fi****ms instruction, handgun safety, and basic firearm familiarity Our goal is to help you find the firearm that is best for YOU.

Citizens Defense LLC is a small fi****ms instruction company that believes in the value of having fi****ms available to citizens for purposes of hunting, recreation, and very importantly, protection of self and loved ones. We understand that people are exposed to many dangers during their daily lives. We can offer tips and advice in awareness during our classes to help people avoid as many of thes

e danger areas as possible. However, no matter how careful and aware one may be, it is impossible to avoid them all. Having a firearm on your person or in your home can be a great asset to those trained and skilled in its use. Our NRA certified instructors, focus on handgun safety and familiarity. We strive to keep our classes low pressure and comfortable for students of all skill ranges, from the those firing their first shots to those that have been lifelong shooters. Most of our classes qualify for those seeking their Oregon Concealed Handgun License. Those wanting their Utah carry permit, with a wider range of reciprocity, classes should be available within the next few months. Classes in defensive rifles and shotguns, in-home defense, and advanced tactical classes will hopefully be available early to mid next year. To those that either do not have their own, or are looking to see and feel some of the differences between fi****ms available. A variety of handguns will be available to use at the class for a fee (to cover ammunition and cleaning) Our instructors will offer opinions on fit and selection only when asked, and will do so in a non-biased manner. Citizens Defense LLC will strive to make reasonable accommodations for students and classes. Courses will be offered in a flexible schedule. Instructors may also hold courses out-of-area for groups. Classes will also be offered ranging from one on one instruction to large groups, depending on course desired (classes that require live fire will not exceed an instructor student ratio of 5:1 while on the firing line.) Base course price $75. Those interested in a course please message or email me with a range of preferred times and how many people to attend. Any questions or comments you may have are welcomed and will be responded to as promptly as possible. Participants seeking their concealed permits must meet minimum state requirements. This company is just getting started and we have many exciting changes and updates to come. So please check back for updates in courses offered and pertinent information. We look forward to serving you with your specific fi****ms instruction needs as we grow and expand our company.

Great class today! Taught a few more citizens the ins and outs of legal concealed carry. This class was all the more enjoyable as it marked the first class we were able to put on with the aid of a sign language interpreter for some deaf students.

Each day seems to mark another attack from someone somewhere on our freedoms relating to fi****ms. at this time we need to unite all gun owners. Just because you may not have or see a use for a semi automatic rifle does not mean there is no reason to stand up against these restrictive bill. stand together for gun rights. period. Educate people that buy into the media on "high capacity" magazines and "assault rifle" and "better laws" to keep guns out of criminals hands. Start conversations with people, ask them questions. one simple question that i have found particularly useful is, "what would it have done to have a new law or restriction?" all these people are criminals and most stole the guns used(and most were not "assault rifles"

I do not have an assault rifle. I have defensive carbines.

Just in case no one has seen this yet, it might help the debate(but i doubt it) if you read down yes he had an AR-15 rifle at the school. officials say it was found in the car and that the two pistols were used in the shooting. So why is this a cry for an "assault weapons" ban

Just a little food for thought lets do a little breakdown which is better to remove? Gun violence, remove the word gun, you still have violence, remove the word violence you just have a gun. I know what i think.

Was recently reading some peoples opinions on how to keep schools safe, a few suggested metal detectors, right, that will work, I'm sure the guy with the stolen gun that wants to kill people will turn around bummed because he wont be able to make it through that metal detector without beeping.

Rep. Richardson's Newsletter
School Safety & Campus Responders
December 17, 2012

We continue to mourn with the families of 20 children and 6 adults killed last week in Sandy Hook Elementary School. I am frustrated over our failure in America to protect our school children and teachers from future attacks. President Obama rightfully told the grieving families in Connecticut “Surely we can do better….” and “We are not doing enough and we will have to change.” The question is what kind of change will make our K-12 schools safer for our children and educators when the next mass murderer forces his way into another of our schools.

This is a serious issue and I am looking for realistic alternatives for our school district administrators to consider before a copy-cat massacre occurs here in Oregon. Please do not think me insensitive to the grief being felt in Newtown, Connecticut and around America. This discussion results from last Friday’s tragedy and if a change in school policy results that saves even one life during the next inevitable school-killing rampage, then the lives lost in Newtown will not have been lost in vain.

To focus our consideration on school safety, the debate over banning weapons will be addressed another day. There are already 250 million fi****ms in circulation in the USA and assault weapons were already banned in Connecticut before last Friday’s tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary. By sad coincidence a mad-man in China also entered an elementary school last Friday and used a knife to stab 22 children.

In other words, instead of responding to the latest mass murder with calls for more gun-control, the real issue should be ensuring the protection of our children and educators from armed psychopaths. Currently, when a killer begins his rampage the only armed person in the school for at least five minutes after the sound of the first gunshot is the mass murderer.

Training in classroom lock-down techniques is valuable, but passive. Classroom lock-down procedures alone fail to protect the children and adults who continue to be murdered before the police arrive. A police officer in every school is not the answer; a police officer would be the first target of a shooter and the cost would be prohibitive for most school districts.

Lives would be saved by stopping the shooter. Seconds count when the police are five minutes away.

To start the discussion, here is a simple, inexpensive way to enable immediate response after the first gunshot in a school is fired. Establish a program of Campus Responders.

Campus Responders could be two or three responsible adult volunteers in every school (administrators, staff members, teachers or members of the community such as retired law enforcement or military personnel), who are enlisted and encouraged to obtain additional training and regular practice in the use of fi****ms. Each Campus Responder would have a firearm concealed on their person or locked and concealed in a secure metal gun box bolted in their desks. School district employees with prior military or law enforcement experience would be the initial candidates for this voluntary assignment. No one outside of school and district administration would know the identity of these volunteers.

In short, having armed and trained personnel in every school would enable immediate response with lethal force if and when the lives of our children and teachers were endangered by a mass murderer.

If this procedure had been implemented, the number of students and educators killed in every school massacre from Columbine to Virginia Tech to Sandy Hook might have been greatly reduced. (The same would be true if implemented by shop-keepers and mall personnel such as those in Clackamas) In Texas the Harrold School District’s “Guardian Plan” already has implemented such a policy. Under present Oregon Firearm Law, school districts already have the authority to do likewise. In Israel and Thailand armed school personnel save the lives of their children. In America the slaughter of our school children continues.

To refocus this important debate let’s consider the following: (1.) Mass murderers may be armed with guns, knives, explosives, and, as we saw last year in China, even hammers. (2.) From the 1998 killings in Oregon’s own Thurston High School to last week’s massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary our students and educators have continued to be slaughtered in our public schools. (3.) There is less than a one in a million chance that a mass shooting will occur in a school on any given day. (4.) Police response times are at least five minutes; and, (5.) The costs are prohibitive and counter-productive to a quality education to turn our schools into educational prisons, with high fences, bullet proof doors and continual police patrols. Nevertheless, as last Friday’s tragedy reminds us all, school campus massacres continue to occur and our passive policies have failed to adequately limit the number of innocent victims once the rampage begins.

What do you think of the idea of having 2 or 3 experienced and trained volunteers serve as armed Campus Responders? Do you have a better idea?

If you have a serious comment on this important issue, please share your thoughts and ideas. Click Here.

Thank you in advance for helping me (and through your comments, school district administrators), evaluate appropriate policy changes in preparation for the next mass murders on a school campus.
Sincerely,
Representative Dennis Richardson Signature
