Last night we celebrated educators, new hall of famers, and distinguished citizens at the Annual WCR7 Foundation Honors Banquet.

A special President Truman quote was shared, “It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.”

The quote sums up our community well. Educators, volunteers, faith based partners, and business leaders all coming together to support the mission of raising up the next generation.

Financial Integrators is proud to support the foundation and I’m proud to call this small town my home!

The most important haircut decision you’ll ever make doesn’t happen at the barbershop.

It happens when you decide to start your Social Security benefit.

If your full retirement age is 67, starting early means taking a permanent “haircut” on your benefit:

62 → 30% reduction
63 → 25% reduction
64 → 20% reduction
65 → 13.3% reduction
66 → 6.7% reduction

That reduction is permanent, it’s not growing back.

On the flip side, if you “let your hair grow out,” your benefit increases 8% per year after 67 — up to 24% more at age 70.

Social Security timing isn’t just about age.
It’s about longevity, income needs, taxes, and your overall retirement strategy.

Before you sit in the chair, make sure you know how much “hair” you’re cutting off.

I often get asked, “So… who do you work with?”

The honest answer? People in real life moments.

Here are some recent clients:

- A young married couple with two little ones navigating an inheritance after dad unexpectantly passed
- A busy executive building a full financial plan around company stock and future equity
- A retired empty nester aligning portfolio retirement income with rental income
- An up and coming local company building a thoughtful, competitive benefits package for its team
- Retirees with three grown sons creating a legacy plan for the savings they worked hard to accumulate
- A working mom of three considering a career pivot ... and what that means now and long-term
- A young married couple buying life insurance and opening a brokerage account for the first time
- A local nonprofit setting up a retirement plan for their dedicated staff

Different stages and different questions but the same goals ... Clarity and confidence when money decisions actually matter.

If you’re navigating a transition, planned or unexpected, you’re probably who we work with.

Our team at Financial Integrators is equipped to meet you where you are at to get you to where you want to go.

I've watched people, including myself, flock to the grocery stores ahead of the oncoming snow storm. We prepare for the worst and want to make sure we have enough to get through the storm.

The snow could be a couple of inches or over a foot, who knows until it actually comes.

It's easy to plan for things that are right in front of us. It's hard to plan for events in the distant future.

Imagine if we approached financial planning with the same urgency and preparedness mindset we bring to an approaching storm. Not panic driven, just intentional and ready.

The snow and ice may or may not come but the forecast is showing a 100% chance of wanting to hit future goals and retire someday.

Will 2026 be the year you take on your financial future with the same preparedness as a snow storm?

I participated on a panel today for Webb City School District employees geared around finances, retirement and their pension. It was packed full of helpful tips!

Below are some of the highlights ⬇️

- Start with a budget and understand your monthly cash flow.
- You can learn a lot by logging into your retirement system online and playing with the calculators and benefit projections.
- Service time from other professions and other education systems can often be purchased or rolled into PSRS/PEERS.
- Tax deductions exist for teachers who contribute money for their own classrooms and students.
- Social Security benefits have changed drastically and benefit educators after the changes to Government Pension Offset and Windfall Elimination Provision. Know the differences for your household!
- Have a plan if you are within five years of retirement. Know your income sources, health insurance, taxes and spousal contributions.
- Utilize experts in the field to your benefit! The school has resources in financial advisors, financial coaches and CPAs that will assist teachers and staff.
- Mandatory pension contributions aren’t fun today but will be well worth it at the end of your career and into your retirement years!

Headed out this morning and I hear my five year old yell, “Dad … wait!”

He fumbled through some stuff and reached for my backpack hanging on my shoulder and strapped in his dog “Lucky.”

“Dad, today Lucky gets to go to work with you!”

He was proud. I smiled big. He quickly asked, “promise you’ll take good care of him?” … “of course I will, buddy!”

Moments like this make me stop and realize just how lucky I am.

In the midst of busy days, meetings and full calendars let’s not forget to take a pause and remember just how lucky and blessed we truly are in this life!

2025 was a success!

We spent a few days in our nation’s capital to learn, listen, and collaborate with industry professionals.

A highlight of the event was participating in the 5k run in support of Luke's Wings, a local DC charity that support the loved ones of our heroes who serve.

Thank you Cambridge for being an invaluable partner alongside all of us at Financial Integrators!
