KEEP THE INTERNET OPEN, AFFORDABLE, AND AWESOME!

Donald Trump's appointed chair of the FCC is unveiling a proposal that would undo the net neutrality rules which were put in place in 2015.

By repealing the rules, your Internet carrier can 1. Charge you extra to reach certain websites. 2. Slow down streaming services like Netflix that compete with their streaming services. 3. Block some websites altogether.

Companies like Apple and Google the proposed repeal of net neutrality. And it won't just impact your ability to access your favorite website; it may be an attempt by Trump and his goons to limit free speech effectively silencing dissent.

What can you do? Contact Senators McConnell and Paul and Reps. Barr and Guthrie with a message like this:

“I support Title Two net neutrality rules and I urge you to oppose the FCC’s plan to repeal them. Specifically, I’d like you to contact the FCC Chairman and demand he abandon his current plan.”

Environmental Protection Agency chief Scott Pruitt, a Lexington, KY native, isn't interested in the science. He seems interested only in destroying America's clean air and water and in destroying the important agency that he runs.

"The agency's career scientists and legal experts say they have been largely cut out of the process. Senior staff members with decades of experience in environmental law and science said they have been consulted barely on the agencies major decisions to undo environmental protections."

Since taking office, Pruitt has moved to undo, delay, or otherwise block more than 30 environmental rules.

Today's Herald-Leader front page story is sobering and terrifying: among states, the Senate Republican health bill would result in a 231% increase in uninsured people by 2022.

Only West Virginia is hit worse. Shame on you, Mitch McConnell.

The numbers differ in recent estimates of how the U.S. Senate bill to replace the Affordable Care Act would affect Kentucky, but the studies reach the same over-arching conclusions: The state is going to lose a lot of federal aid and the number of people without insurance will go up dramatically.

“The details emerged last week about a Republican candidate’s racist comments, but still we have heard nothing from Gov. Bevin on this issue,” said Rep. Sannie Overly, chair of the Kentucky Democratic Party. “Republicans and Democrats have called for this candidate, who the Republican Party selected, to withdraw from the race, and that is the only appropriate action. Gov. Bevin is long overdue to join us in demanding that racism not be tolerated.”

It's past time to take action Governor Matt Bevin.

As a leader in the community, the same one I grew up in, that I call home, and my family has called home for generations, I don't take these matters lightly. It is not only duty but responsibility and pride of my home County that guides my conviction.

Impeachment? It's being discussed openly as a possibility now. Is almost out of moves?

From the article:

House Speaker Greg Stumbo said Tuesday that there should be federal and state investigations into allegations that Gov. Matt Bevin’s killed a Jessamine County road project to punish a Democratic legislator who refused to switch parties.

And, Stumbo said, if it’s determined that Bevin did that, costing taxpayers $625,000, the House would consider bringing articles of impeachment against him.

followed through with the threat, costing the state $625,000. But, he's a fiscally responsible conservative who just wants to manage Kentucky's budget like his own. The reality is, the bad moves keep adding up, and it's not a laughing matter. Damages to our state's budget, to Jessamine county's economy here directly, threatening the health of nearly half a million Kentuckians and defying the rule of law, plus trying to strongman and bully his way about things. This is not how the office of Governor is supposed to be carried out.

From the article:

After identifying himself, Bevin left a message saying he wanted Rep. Russ Meyer, D-Nicholasville, “to be very aware of what the impact of (future Bevin decisions) will be as it relates to you, your seat, your district, etcetera.”

FRANKFORT Republican Gov. Matt Bevin left a message on a Democratic lawmaker’s cellphone voicemail on Dec. 17, 2015 that seems to imply he planned to punish the lawmaker for refusing
