Looks like we’ve got a strong storm rolling into the Tulsa area on Friday, and the temps are expected to drop WAY down (the kind of cold that can cause real damage fast).

If you own a home (or rent), this is the kind of weather where a little prep now can save you a major headache later. Here’s what I’d do before it hits:

✅ Protect your pipes
• Let faucets drip (especially ones on exterior walls)
• Open cabinet doors under sinks to let warm air circulate
• Disconnect garden hoses + cover outdoor spigots
• Know where your main water shutoff is (seriously—find it now)

✅ Check your heat + keep it steady
• Don’t turn your thermostat way down overnight
• Replace furnace filters if you haven’t in a while
• If you have a fireplace, use it safely (and don’t forget a CO detector)

✅ Garage + attic + exterior check
• Close your garage door tight (it helps protect plumbing)
• Make sure attic access is closed
• Bring in anything that can freeze: paints, liquids, plants, etc.

✅ Prevent ice damage
• Clear gutters if you can
• Be careful with space heaters (keep them away from curtains/furniture)
• If you lose power, avoid using ovens/grills for heat (CO risk)

✅ Have a quick “just in case” plan
• Flashlights + batteries
• Phone chargers/power banks
• Bottled water + basic food
• Blankets and warm clothes ready
