In May of 2010, I signed a contract to open an insurance agency with Country Financial in Jasper, AL. Less than a year in the business and April 27, 2011, happened. I can remember clients coming to my home in Oakman, AL to file their claims because no one had cell service. I have been to funerals of former clients, and I have had the opportunity to give the lucky ones much needed life insurance proceeds to help them recover from the financial burden of losing a loved one. I have gone to the site of automobile accidents because clients didn't have their insurance information and were shook up to the point, they asked me to come to them. I have seen more change in the insurance industry these last 16 years than you can imagine. Three things I know for certain.
#1 Your insurance is only as good as your agent. #2 Something we hear in this business pretty regularly is that "insurance is a waste of money” ... And that's true until you need it. Of course, that's true of ANYTHING. Just like groceries are a waste of money until you’re hungry. Gas is a waste of money until you need to go somewhere, and an umbrella is a waste of money until it’s raining. and #3. Premium only seems like the most important factor when you’re shopping. The company and the coverage matter after a loss, and you won’t be asking what your monthly premium was, but rather "how much will the insurance company pay me for this loss??"
