🌧️ THE STORM HAS PASSED — NOW WHAT?
Yesterday’s storm brought strong winds and heavy rain to our area. Even when the skies clear, it’s important to take a few steps to protect yourself, your property, and your insurance claim.
🏠 After a storm, remember to:
📸 Document any damage
Take photos and videos of your home, roof, vehicles, fences, trees, and other property before making repairs.
🔎 Look for damage you may not notice immediately
Missing or damaged shingles, water stains, broken windows, damaged siding, fallen trees, and leaks can sometimes be easy to overlook.
🛠️ Prevent further damage when it’s safe to do so
If you have damage, take reasonable steps to prevent additional damage. Keep receipts for temporary repairs or emergency services.
📄 Review your policy
Your coverage, deductibles, exclusions, and limits determine what may be covered after a storm. Wind and hail damage can be subject to specific deductibles depending on your policy.
⚠️ Be cautious of storm-chasing contractors
Before signing a contract or handing over payment, verify the contractor’s credentials and get everything in writing.
