🎄 Mary, Did You Know? — A Christmas Devotional
đź“– Scripture
Luke 1:31–33 (KJV)
“And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.”
Luke 1:31–33 (AMP)
“And listen: you will conceive in your womb and give birth to a Son, and you shall name Him Jesus.
He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David;
And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there shall be no end.”

đź’ˇ Accordance-Style Insights
• Jesus (Iēsous) — from Hebrew Yeshua, meaning “The Lord saves.” His name was not symbolic only; it was prophetic and purposeful.
• “Son of the Most High” reflects divine authority, not merely royal lineage. This title declares Jesus as God’s Son before His public ministry ever began.
• Mary’s role shows God often reveals purpose before process — calling before understanding, destiny before details.

📚 Bible Story & Context
Mary was a young, ordinary Jewish girl in Nazareth — a town overlooked and underestimated.
When the angel Gabriel appeared, he didn’t offer explanations, timelines, or comfort beyond God’s promise. He offered assignment.
Mary carried Jesus before anyone understood who He truly was.
She held the Savior while the world slept, unaware that heaven had touched earth in her arms.
She knew some things —
but not everything.
She knew He was holy…
but not that He would be rejected.
She knew He was sent by God…
but not that a cross would one day stand between her and her Son.

🌿 Reflection
Mary, did you know…
that the baby you rocked would one day still storms?
That the tiny hands you kissed would be pierced for the sins of the world?
That your obedience would echo through eternity?
Sometimes God asks us to carry promises we don’t fully understand —
to nurture callings before clarity arrives.
Like Mary, we are often entrusted with holy things before we are told how they will unfold.

🙏🏽 Prayer
Lord,
Thank You for trusting ordinary people with extraordinary purposes.
Help me to carry what You’ve placed in my hands with faith, humility, and obedience — even when I don’t fully understand it.
Teach me to trust You in the waiting, the wondering, and the unfolding.
Like Mary, I say: Let it be unto me according to Your word.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
⸻
🌟 Affirmation

I obey even when I don’t fully understand.
