Medicare Open Enrollment begins today and runs through December 7!

Your healthcare needs, prescription medications, and out-of-pocket costs can change over time, which is why reviewing your Medicare coverage each year is so important.

As you evaluate your options, remember to:

✔️ Review your prescription drug coverage
✔️ Check for changes to provider networks
✔️ Compare plan costs, premiums, and benefits
✔️ Make sure your coverage still aligns with your healthcare needs

Taking a few minutes to review your plan now can help you make more informed healthcare and financial decisions for the year ahead.

📈 The annual Social Security COLA announcement is a reminder that inflation can have a lasting impact on retirement income.

COLA stands for Cost-of-Living Adjustment, the annual increase designed to help Social Security benefits keep pace with inflation.

Current projections suggest the 2027 COLA could land between 3.1% and 3.6%, potentially adding about $60 to $75 per month to the average $2,000 benefit. If those estimates hold, it would represent the largest Social Security benefit increase since 2023.

💡 Retirement Tip: Don't focus solely on your benefit increase. Take time to review your overall retirement income strategy and consider how rising expenses, healthcare costs, and inflation may affect your long-term budget.

You spent decades earning a paycheck. What replaces it when you retire?

One of the biggest transitions into retirement is moving from regularly earning income to creating income from the assets and benefits you’ve accumulated over the years.

Social Security, pensions, retirement accounts, investments, and other income sources may all play a role—but how and when you use them matters.

A retirement income strategy should help answer some important questions:

💰 How much monthly income will I need?
💰 Which accounts should I draw from first?
💰 When should I claim Social Security?
💰 How will taxes affect my retirement income?
💰 How can I prepare for unexpected expenses?

During National Retirement Planning Month, it’s a great time to ask yourself: "Do I have savings—or do I have an actual retirement income plan?"

📅 It's hard to believe we're already entering the last quarter of the year.

Retirement planning isn't a one-time event, and the final months of the year can be a great opportunity to review your goals, evaluate your progress, and make any adjustments before the calendar turns.

End-of-Year Retirement Planning Checklist:

✅ Review your retirement income strategy
✅ Check that your investments still align with your goals
✅ Evaluate potential year-end tax planning opportunities
✅ Review beneficiary designations and important account details
✅ Revisit your financial goals for the year ahead

As the year winds down, taking time to review your plan with a trusted financial professional may help you feel more prepared for whatever comes next.

October is National Retirement Planning Month! 🍂

When you think about retirement planning, you may immediately think about one question: “Do I have enough saved?”

But a well-designed retirement plan goes far beyond the size of your portfolio. It should consider where your income will come from, how taxes could affect that income, how much risk you’re comfortable taking, healthcare costs, Social Security, your legacy goals, and—most importantly—the life you actually want to live.

This month, we’ll be sharing a few things to think about as you plan "to and through retirement."

Because retirement isn’t just about reaching a number. It’s about having a plan for what comes next.

When I talk with people about retirement, one of the biggest questions I hear is, “What kind of return can I get?”

Rate of return matters—but it’s only part of the conversation. As you get closer to retirement, I believe it’s just as important to think about what you’re protecting and how much risk you’re taking to earn that return.

In this clip from The Money Report, I explain why retirement planning shouldn’t simply be about chasing the highest return. It’s about finding the right balance between growth, risk, and protecting the money you’ve worked a lifetime to build.

🎥 Take a couple of minutes to watch and ask yourself: Is your retirement strategy focused on both growth AND protection?

🍁 As the seasons change, it's a good time to check in on more than just your yard work.

With the final quarter of the year approaching, now may be the perfect time to revisit your retirement goals, review your financial strategy, and make sure you're still on track for 2026.

💬 What's one financial goal you're hoping to accomplish before year end?

Believe it or not, retirement planning requires both a telescope and a microscope...

🔭 The telescope helps you see the big picture: Retirement lifestyle goals, income needs, legacy planning, long-term financial security

🔬 The microscope helps you focus on the details: Taxes, spending habits, savings rates, market conditions

Success often comes from paying attention to both.

Are you spending more time looking through the telescope or the microscope?
