FYI -- Duval County is now requiring that Bondsman receive the full 10% of the bail bond premium before a defendant/inmate can be released on bail. Judges in Duval County are now making this a condition of bail.
In other words, if your loved one has a $100,000 dollar bond, he and or the person signing for him will be responsible for paying the whole amount (which in this case is $10,000 dollars) up front. A bondsman will no longer be able to extend credit on a bond allowing the defendant to make an initial down payment while making installment payments to pay off the remaining balance.
The hope here is that the more informed consumer will plan and adjust accordingly to the change.
