Today wasn’t a “feel good” volunteer day.
It was a wake up day.
I spent time with some incredible women at Rethreaded, a local nonprofit doing sacred, gritty, hope-filled work right here in our community—supporting survivors of human trafficking as they rebuild their lives.
We deconstructed leather airline seats—yes, the kind you’ve sat on at 30,000 feet—so they can be transformed into beautiful, intentional products crafted by survivors who are employed, supported, and paid with dignity. Every item sold pours right back into rehabilitation, housing, counseling, job training, and family support.
Human trafficking isn’t a far-away problem.
It’s here. It’s quiet. And it hides in plain sight.
But so does hope.
So does redemption.
So does purpose stitched into every single piece they create.
If you’re looking for a way to do something—not just post, not just share, but show up—you can volunteer at Rethreaded: (for more FAQs, scroll to last pic)
✨ Individual volunteer days on Thursdays
✨ Or scheduled group visits (highly recommend—bring your people)
This work matters. These women matter.
And sometimes changing the world looks like sitting at a warehouse, pulling apart leather, and choosing not to look away.
