Our presenter will be Ray Medina, Quantitative Analyst at Springtech Capital

Springtech Capital is a startup technology and quantitative hedge fund located here in Jacksonville Beach. Their mission is to deliver superior risk-adjusted returns and downside protection to their investors by leveraging data and technology. They have developed multiple in-house software applications that support their internal research and trading by continuously crunching data every minute to drive their advanced algorithms in order trade those signals.

Ray graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of North Florida with a BBA in Finance and a minor in Economics. He also has a BA in Mathematics and a minor in Physics from the University of Florida. He currently works as a Quantitative Analyst where he develops and back tests high frequency quantitative strategies. In the US, about 70 percent of overall trading volume is generated through algorithmic trading so this is definitely the place to be if you want to gain insight into the future of trading. Ray is a wealth of knowledge and loves to talk so bring some questions!

Hello Everyone,
Thank you to all who attended our first meeting, it was a great time and a fantastic turn out. Hope you all join us again!

Our presenter will be the current CEO of PS27 Ventures, Jim Stallings.

Jim Stallings is a globally recognized business leader with extensive experience transforming companies and teams for sales and profit growth. He is the managing partner of PS27 Ventures, a private investment company focused on innovations in the expanding wellness and sustainable living market. He has held top leadership roles in several Fortune 25 companies and been involved in numerous startups. He serves on the boards of Fidelity National Information Services Corporation, Seaside National Bank and Trust Company, and the World Affairs Council of Florida.

Jim will be talking about the world of Venture Capital. His company invests in early-stage companies that are driving dramatic changes in high-growth markets. He will speak about how he broke into the industry, what his day to day looks like, what he looks for when deciding to invest in projects, recommendations for students, and more!

Welcome back to a fresh semester everyone, I hope you enjoyed your summer; and welcome to Finance and Investment Society. We’re excited to kick things off. We have a lot planned for the upcoming months: speakers from Hedge Funds, Investment Banks, Venture Capital firms and more. I really want everyone to capitalize on the networking opportunities, from our guest speakers to our officers to the people that make this club exist—you guys. Hello everyone,

Our last meeting of the semester is Tonight. Edward Cooper (former CFO of Pruksa Real Estate PCL) is presenting on the sale of AIG Bank Thailand as part of AIG's asset sales to repay the Fed and to discuss how AIG got into such trouble and provide a perspective on the mortgage fiasco. He was in the department where AIG wrote the credit default swaps that were central to the market crisis. Remember these meetings are open to anyone so go ahead and invite your roommates, friends, enemies, all are welcomed. Pizza and cookies will be provided at the meeting. Don't forget out fundraiser is this Saturday (4/13) details are in the previous announcement.
