Why are Home Insurance Prices in Jax, FL so High?
The answer, may surprise you.
From 2015-2020, contractors and lawyers used a legal loophole called Assignment of Benefits to sign away your Home Insurance rights—at your front door.
The scam started when you got a knock on your door from a contractor, he would ask to do a "Free Inspection" of your roof, and every time, he would report the roof damaged.
He then informed you that your Home Insurance company will give you a "Free Roof." All you have to do is sign.
Using your signature, the contractor would file a massively inflated roof claim, in your name, often upwards of $100,000, 80K or 90K more than the cost to replace the roof.
From this claim submitted by the contractor, lawsuits inevitably followed.
From these lawsuits, Insurance companies were required to pay out Billions in legal fees—and you the local homeowner took the hit with skyrocketing premiums and canceled policies.
Following the Roof Inspection Scam, the Florida market is just now recovering. And unfortunately, this means prices are slowing going down, but leaving hope for cheaper rates in the future.
