🌱📚 All In for Ag Week in Breathitt County! 🫐🐄

During All In for Ag Week (March 16–20), the Breathitt County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee partnered with Jackson Independent agriculture students, Breathitt County High School FFA, and the Breathitt County Extension Office to bring agricultural education to K–2 students across our county.

We are so proud of our young agriculture leaders who helped read and connect with the students—it was a special experience for everyone involved!

This year’s featured book, I Love Blueberries by Shannon Anderson (illustrated by Jaclyn Sinquett), was a big hit. The students especially loved bringing the story to life through their senses—smelling blueberry essential oil and tasting delicious mini blueberry muffins prepared by the Extension Office. 🫐

Moments like these help plant the seeds of understanding about where our food comes from and the importance of agriculture in our everyday lives. 🌾

We will also be partnering with Breathitt Extension to present a Producer Meeting for interested farmers on April 2nd at the Extension Office.

The Breathitt Co. Farm Bureau will be awarding three $1000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors entering their first year of college/tech school this fall.

Student must be a member of the household of a Breathitt Farm Bureau active member.

Applications can be obtained from the insurance office or by emailing [email protected].

The deadline for applications will be April 20th in the office. Applicants will be invited to interviews at the April 21st board meeting.

DEADLINE APPROACHING!

The Institute for Future Agricultural Leaders (IFAL) is an incredible opportunity for high school juniors interested in agriculture!

This 5-day summer conference gives students a chance to:
🌱 Explore careers in agriculture
🎓 Experience college life
💼 Build leadership skills

Students can attend at Murray State University (June 14–18) or the University of Kentucky (June 21–25).

✅ Open to current high school juniors
✅ Must be a Breathitt County Farm Bureau Member to Apply
✅ Breathitt County Farm Bureau will cover the fee if selected!

🗓 Applications are due April 1, 2026

The insurance office will delay opening until 10am today. Most transactions we can handle on the phone so feel free to call if you need help.

Hopefully our last day working from home at the Insurance Office. Staff are still at home in ice covered areas of the county and our parking lot is very icy. Thanks to the Sun for coming out today that should help it some.
