Members of the So Mi’ Chapter of Credit Unions presented a $10,000 check to the Region 2 Area Agency on Aging – Elder Abuse Victims Specialist Program Manager, Angela Shepard; Assistant Director, Kara Lorenz-Goings, and Elder Abuse Victims Specialist, Erica Cooper. The money was raised at the So Mi’ Chapter’s annual charity golf outing held August 6, 2019 at The Grande Golf Club in Jackson, MI.
Region 2 Area Agency on Aging was chosen for their Safe Haven program. The Safe Haven program provides immediate and ongoing safety support services for vulnerable adult victims of abuse, neglect, or exploitation (including financial abuse) in Jackson, Lenawee and Hillsdale counties.
The So-Mi’ Chapter of Credit Unions exists to promote and protect credit unions and the credit union movement. The Chapter is formed from 9 separate credit unions located in Jackson, Lenawee and Washtenaw counties. Each year chapter executives pick a local charity and raise funds to help that nonprofit organization provide support in our communities.
