Streets bustling, shops open, hundreds of people of all ages out enjoying downtown... that’s First Fridays (when the weather cooperates!) This event kicked off two years ago as a partnership with the Jackson Arts Council and their monthly Art Walk, building momentum together, and now it’s one of the biggest evenings downtown.

We’ve added themes and activity zones this year, and as the holidays approach, we’re looking for sponsors to help bring them to life. This could look like a Kids Zone at Fall Harvest or Carriage Rides for Downtown Christmas. If you or your business are looking for ways to be a part of one of downtown’s best nights, let’s talk!

This month’s Feature is Lakyn Bowman, the owner of The Nine Oh Six (Lakyn), and a constant champion for downtown. She plans events, fills her store with unique pieces, invests in young entrepreneurs, and always encourages our community to invest in the downtown space.

“As more people are drawn downtown, it becomes a destination where families make memories, vacant storefronts are filled with entrepreneurs pursuing their dreams, historic buildings are finding new purpose, residents are feeling proud of the place they call home, and visitors experience what makes our city special,” Lakyn said.

It is with the greatest pleasure that we announce our little corner of Jackson has been bestowed a Mayor’s Civic Pride Award.

If we wish for beautiful places in our city, we must be willing to create them. And, more importantly, to tend to them.

A garden does not become lovely by chance. It requires those willing to plant, to prune, to water, to wait. Those who believe the work is worthwhile long before there is anything to show for it.

Perhaps a city is much the same.

Jackson is ours to tend.

And so, we are grateful for the opportunity to contribute one small patch of beauty to a city we love & call home. A place where people may gather, linger, celebrate, and perhaps be reminded that there is still so much good worth cultivating.

Our sincerest thanks to Keep Jackson Beautiful and the Mayor’s office for this lovely recognition.

May we all continue to sow beauty in every corner of our city. In our gardens, in our community, our neighbors, and local businesses.

For it is a truth as old as any season:
Good things grow when they are lovingly tended.

With love,
The ladies of Libertè Social

Three years ago, Yoga in the Park started as a Love Your Block Neighborhood Improvement Grant Project, meant to bring more life into our public spaces. Since then, it’s grown into one of our favorite community events. 57 sessions and counting with hundreds of people who’ve rolled out a mat downtown, some for their very first yoga class ever.

What hasn’t changed is the reason it works: it’s free. No barrier to walk up and join in. As we head into fall, we’re looking for a partner to help carry this into another season. If your business wants your name tied to something that gets people outside, moving, and connected to downtown, let’s talk! 🧘
