Many of you have followed the adventures of our office plant Frank over the years. With our office building closing tomorrow, we thought we would share the backstory of how this "employee" came to work at Tomlin Insurance Group.
When our founder Mike passed away in July 2021, we received an overwhelming amount of flowers and plants as thoughtful tributes. Most of them were given to folks who wanted to care for them, but there was one last plant that needed a home: a fiddle leaf fig.
This particular plant was sent by one Frank Smith, an old friend of Mike's from Jefferson City. As no one seemed to want it, we brought it to the office and named him "Frank". At first, we admittedly didn't do a great job of caring for him (we are not green thumbs, unfortunately) and so he had a rough start here. But after some online research on how best to care for him, he started growing at a crazy rate (check the side-by-side comparison from 2021 and 2026!)
Over the years, Frank wore many hats including literal hats. He was always a model employee, promptly arriving to work, professionally dressed. But Frank also had a fun side: dressing for Halloween, supporting his favorite sports teams, and celebrating company milestones with the rest of the staff. Frank became a valued, if not famous, member of the Tomlin Team.
We absolutely promise that Frank is going to a great home after the building closes and will be well-taken care of. Thank you all for being a part of our office fun over the years. As Frank might say, "It's been an unbe-leaf-able time."
