🚶 The Beginnings Team had a blast participating in the 2026 Cancer Resource Center Walkathon!

For the 32nd year, this fundraiser brought together cancer survivors, loved ones, and community members to walk in solidarity for those affected by cancer.

Cancer remains the second leading cause of death in the U.S., and many of us have faced or know those who’ve faced the disease.

It was moving to see the outpouring of the community, and we’re proud to participate alongside everyone.

International Credit Union Day is a reminder that the credit union movement is a global movement. 🌎

Historically, credit unions served as a lifeline for community members in times of need. Instead of relying on moneylenders who charged inaccessible rates, people turned to community members who pooled their resources in support at fair rates.

Credit unions quickly became critical organizations for the working class and other at-risk populations, addressing a gap between banks and disenfranchised people.

Beginnings Credit Union is proud to continue the shared philosophy of people helping people. So much is possible when you unlock opportunities through financial freedom!

Recently, Beginnings donated ✨ $1,000 ✨ to the Greater Ithaca Activities Center (GIAC)! This was possible thanks to the proceeds from the Beginnings Summer Concert Series T-shirt sales (designed by Molly Lunn of Lunnch)!

We also announced Adrian as the winner of the guitar raffle, generously provided by Ithaca Guitar Works in this long-standing tradition!

This year’s Summer Concert Series was an incredible success thanks to the Downtown Ithaca Alliance and the countless organizers, sponsors, volunteers, musicians, and attendees who spent each Thursday enjoying the height of the season.

All Beginnings branches and Member Solutions Center will be closed on Saturday, October 10th, and Monday, October 12th, in observance of Indigenous Peoples’ Day!

We’ll resume normal operations on Tuesday, October 13th. As always, our Beginnings App, online services, ATMs, and ITMs will be available.

In partnership with the Ithaca Rotary Club and Cortland County Community Action Program (CAPCO), all Beginnings Credit Union branches will be collecting new or gently used winter clothing for the Share the Warmth Drive.

Donated clothing will be distributed free of charge to support families and unhoused people in need.

This year, we’re collecting:

🧣 Hats & scarves
🧣 Mittens & gloves
🧣 Boots
🧣 Blankets

For over 30 years, Share the Warmth has proven that collective support can make a real, positive difference in the communities we serve.
