Most people enter retirement with a pretty good idea of what their major expenses will be. We anticipate things like housing, healthcare, and everyday living expenses.

But retirement rarely follows a perfectly predictable budget. Some of the expenses that can have the biggest impact are the easiest to overlook.

Read our recent blog to learn a few of the expenses worth planning for.

For generations, the traditional approach to inheritance was fairly straightforward: parents accumulated wealth throughout their lives and passed what remained to their children after they died. Increasingly, families are considering a different approach.

If you’re financially secure and expect to leave money to your children someday, it may make sense to begin giving earlier.

Read our recent blog to learn more.

The constant flow of unsettling headlines can make it difficult to keep perspective. From market volatility to global events, today’s news cycle often magnifies uncertainty, leaving many investors questioning whether “playing it safe” is the best approach.

History shows a different story: despite recessions, pandemics, and political turmoil, long-term investors who stayed focused on their goals have often been rewarded. The key is learning how to manage perspective, avoid fear-driven mistakes, and stay aligned with long-term objectives.

So, join us Thursday, September 24th, for this exclusive briefing as Dennis Scanlan, Managing Director of Applied Insights at Hartford Funds, shares insights from decades of market research.

It's easy to think retirement is about reaching a certain number.

But for most people, that number is simply a means to something more meaningful.

More time with family. More freedom to travel. More opportunities to give back. More flexibility to spend your days the way you choose.

That's why the most important planning conversations don't begin with a portfolio balance.

They begin with a simple question:

What do you want life after work to look like?

One question has a way of changing almost every financial conversation.

"What is your wealth actually for?"

The answer is almost never a number. It's about the life someone wants to build, the people they want to care for, and the opportunities they hope to create.

We've found that once that conversation happens, financial decisions become clearer. Priorities come into focus. The plan starts to reflect the person instead of just the portfolio.

Because before wealth can be managed well, it helps to understand the purpose behind it.

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the courage shown by so many on September 11, 2001.

We honor the first responders, service members, and everyday heroes whose selflessness and resilience continue to inspire us.

May we take time to remember, reflect, and appreciate the people, freedoms, and moments we hold dear.

One of the things we've noticed is that retirement doesn't always unfold the way people expect.

Many prepare financially. Far fewer prepare for the change in identity that comes from no longer being the person everyone turns to at work.

The meetings stop. The phone gets quieter. The routine changes.

What doesn't change is everything you've learned along the way.

Your experience didn't retire when you did.

Someone could benefit from the lessons you've spent decades earning. Whether it's mentoring a young professional, serving your community, or helping a nonprofit, your next chapter can be just as meaningful as the one that came before.
