It's baaaack! More snow means more slick roads, sooo, just a couple of reminders for staying safe out there. If your vehicle is outside be sure to clean it all off, that means hood and roof as well as all windows, before you start out. SLOW DOWN you never know when you might hit black ice. Know before you drive which way your vehicle will go if you hit the brakes. {Hint, it always pulls the same way} If you start to slide on ice DON'T hit your brakes, steer out of the slide. The best place for your feet is against the bottom of the seat. Things to keep in your car, small shovel, some kitty litter, blankets, spare bottle of water and some snacks. Until next time, Good luck, please be careful, stay safe and God Bless. And remember, "don't stew-call Lew, the tradition continues."

It's Friday!! We made it through another week of snow, ice, melting show and ice, temps below 0. In other words it's winter folks in all it's freezing glory. Just a friendly reminder to stay about 3 car lengths behind the car in front of you. In case they might hit black ice. Might be a good idea to invest in a bag of kitty liter to keep in your car in case you get stuck. Don't EVER leave a kerosene or electric heater unattended. Leave your water drip slightly at night when its cold, or open your cabinet doors to keep it warm inside. If you need salt, Mortons makes one that is pet friendly. It's also concrete and asphalt friendly. Just a few tips to help make life a little easier and safer. Oh yes, if you need insurance or help with your current insurance feel free to call us Monday thru Friday between Noon and 5 pm. Till next time, stay safe, stay warm and God Bless.

Hello, hope you are all staying warm and safe. Here's just a few reminders about winter driving and courtesy on the road during this icebox we are in. 1. Before you leave home be sure you clear all you windows and the vehicle itself of ice and snow. It makes it easier to see all around you and keeps the vehicles behind you from snow and ice that may blow off your vehicle onto theirs. 2. If you are on roads or streets that haven't been cleared stay at least 3 car lengths behind the vehicle in front of you. 3. Watch for black ice and NEVER use cruise control in slippery conditions. Stay safe and warm and if you need insurance on anything but health or life give us a call. Were are open Monday through Friday Noon to 5 pm or after hours by appointment. Have a great day and God Bless.

I know you know how to carve pumpkins but I found a few more tips from Foremost Insurance that need to be added. Bye the way, did you know that literally thousands of people are injured every year carving pumpkins?!? Ouch! That's why these tips come in handy. (no pun intended) Using the right tools (NOT a kitchen knife) but a reusable tool kit made especially for pumpkin carving. Also, use a stencil to create your pattern before beginning to carve. Oh, did you know its easier to to carve before you clean out the pumpkin. Lastly, cut out the bottom instead of the top if you are going to use candles inside your pumpkin. Simply light the candle and sit the pumpkin over it.
Enjoy your adventure and remember for insurance your first call should be Albert Insurance at 740-532-7415 Monday thru Friday between noon and 5 p.m. We are here to help with good prices and complete coverage. "Don't stew-call Lew, the tradition continues. Stay safe and God Bless

It's Saturday and it's beautiful! My rose bush awaits. Just wanted to finish up the Halloween safety tips and this one deserved it's own message.
3. Drink Responsibly -If you attend a Halloween party and consume alcohol have a designated driver, call an Uber or consider an overnight stay. Remember, a DUI or a fatality is significantly more costly emotionally and financially, than a ride home.
4. Keep in mind, it's vitally important to always supervise young children, whether they are trick-or-treating or carving pumpkins! For your older children, ask them to stay in groups and insist they check-in throughout the night. they might think you are treating them like a baby but secretly they appreciate that you care.
Enjoy this reprieve from cooler weather, have a great rest of your weekend and God Bless

It's Friday!! Hope you have a wonderful weekend, the weather promises to co-operate so have a great one! Today we have some information from Wyandot Mutual for prioritizing safety this Halloween. Did you know 3200 people visit the Emergency Room due to Halloween related injuries every year? How about a few safety tips to keep you from being one of them?
1.Pumpkin carving - More than 55% of Halloween injuries are caused by pumpkin carving! Carving tool kits are a safer option than standard kitchen knives so don't be tempted to use a knife and always be sure adults are supervising children while they carve.
2. Trick or treating safety - Falls from decorations or costumes that don't fit account for 25% of injuries on Halloween. Be sure costumes fit properly to prevent tripping and use reflective tape and glow sticks to improve visibility. More tomorrow. A few more safety tips from Wyandot Mutual for having fun with campfires, Bonfires and Firepits.
1 KEEP A FIRE EXTINGUISHER OR HOSE NEARBY. Always have a fire extinguisher, bucket of water or hose nearby. Being prepared can make a big difference if the fire starts to spread.
2. EXPLAIN EMERGENCY PROCEDURES. Make sue everyone know what to do in an emergency. Discuss evacuation plans and how to safely use the fire extinguisher if needed.
AND FINALLY, ALWAYS SUPERVISE CHILDREN! Be sure they know to keep a clear distance, use long-handled utensils for roasting over the fire and NEVER roughhouse near a fire.
1 KEEP A FIRE EXTINGUISHER OR HOSE NEARBY. Always have a fire extinguisher, bucket of water or hose nearby. Being prepared can make a big difference if the fire starts to spread.

It's fall and the perfect time for bonfires, campfires and firepits. Here are some tips from Wyandot Mutual for safety while using any of the above.
1. PICK A WINDFREE DAY. Calm winds are best for the good times surrounding cookouts and hotdog roasts. If it's windy, postpone your outing to a calmer day.
2. MAINTAIN A SAFE PERIMETER. Create a safety zone around your fire. Mark a boundary at least 10 feet from the fire where children and pets are not allowed to cross.
3. USE A FIREPIT SCREEN. If you're using a firepit, consider using a screen to contain sparks and embers. This added layer of protection can help prevent accidental fires.
