One month is incredible.

The next month? Three clients suddenly decide they are “circling back next quarter.” 😅

Entrepreneurs, realtors, freelancers, and commission-based professionals know that income does not always arrive in a perfectly predictable paycheck.

That makes every recurring expense worth reviewing, including health coverage.

If your current premium feels disconnected from the way you actually live and work, it may be time to explore other options.

Affordable does not mean choosing blindly. It means finding coverage that better fits your priorities.

Contact us today to talk through your options.

Some insurance questions aren’t really insurance questions.

They sound more like:

“Who am I supposed to call about this?”

“I got this letter in the mail. What does it mean?”

“Do I need to do anything with this?”

“I have no idea where to start.”

Sometimes the person reaching out doesn’t need a policy explained. They need someone who knows enough about their situation to point them in the right direction.

That might mean finding the right carrier contact, figuring out what paperwork is needed, helping make sense of something they received or simply giving them a place to start.

Those questions don’t always fit neatly into a benefits category.

They still end up on our desk.

And we’re so glad they do.

It's easy to compare your health insurance choices to someone else's, but everyone's situation is different.
Your healthcare needs, financial goals, and lifestyle all play a role in choosing the right plan.
The best decision is an informed one that's based on what's right for you.

“Can you help me with my benefits?”

During open enrollment, that question can mean just about anything.

Which plan should I look at?
Can I cover my spouse?
Where do I find this information?
What does this benefit actually do?
What happens if I need help after I enroll?

For HR, those questions can add up quickly. Especially when open enrollment is happening alongside everything else already on their plate.

Part of our role during enrollment is being another place employees can turn for help.

We know the plans. We’re there for the meetings. We can walk through the information, answer questions and help employees understand what comes next.

HR shouldn’t have to become the benefits help desk every fall.

Same company. Same benefit package. Very different decisions.

One employee may be looking at the payroll deduction first.

Another is thinking about how often their kids ended up at the doctor last year.

Someone else is comparing coverage with a spouse’s plan, while the person sitting next to them has a completely different set of priorities after an unexpected health event.

That’s the challenge of open enrollment.

Employees aren’t making decisions from the same starting point.

They’re bringing different families, finances, health needs and stages of life into the room with them.

Giving everyone a benefits guide is one piece of enrollment.

Helping employees understand how those benefits apply to their own lives takes a little more.

That’s where the questions become just as important as the presentation.

The first open enrollment problem usually happens before enrollment even starts.

It starts with communication.

When should employees first hear about enrollment? How much information do they need right away? What questions are they likely to have? What will actually get read?

Those decisions shape what happens next.

A well-timed email can give employees a chance to start thinking about their coverage, talk with their spouse, gather questions and know what to expect.

A confusing one can leave HR answering the same questions over and over as the deadline gets closer.

That’s why enrollment communication deserves more thought than “send an email and put it on the calendar.”

The smoother the communication is on the front end, the easier it is for employees to come prepared.

If open enrollment starts in October, the work starts much earlier.

Long before employees sit down to review their benefits, our team is already building the pieces that make enrollment run smoothly.

A good open enrollment takes preparation, and a lot of that work happens before employees ever see it.

October may be when most open enrollments take place.

We’re already working on it.

Swipe through to see how we prepare.

Leaving a traditional job can feel exciting right up until someone says, “So…what are you doing for health insurance?”

Suddenly, being your own boss comes with one more job title: Benefits Department.

The good news? Employer-sponsored coverage is not the only path.

If you’ve recently gone freelance, started a business or moved into commission-based work, there may be private-market options worth exploring based on your health, needs and budget.

We help make that transition a little less overwhelming.

Contact us today to explore your health coverage options.

A week at MACC Benefit Solutions rarely happens behind one desk.

We're checking in with advisors, presenting to groups, meeting new people, building partnerships and getting our team in the same room whenever we can.

Some weeks take us across town. Some take us across the state. Occasionally, we're lucky enough to wrap things up poolside with our MACC family.

There's a lot that goes into building this business, and these are the weeks that give you a pretty good look at what that actually means.

Here's a little glimpse of a week at MACC.
