BIG NEWS IN THE LENDING WORLD. Today FHA announced that you have to be a permanent resident or citizen to qualify for a FHA mortgage. No longer will immigrants with a social security number and lawful work permit who are on the path to citizenship be able to qualify for the program that is suited for those who are establishing their credit due to not being in the country for very long. As of now, conventional financing is still an option. All the more reason for Realtors with clients who don't have a Green Card to have their clients call us asap so we can help raise their credit so they aren't negatively impacted by the credit score adjustments that come with conventional financing!
