Snow storm coming they say! Severe cold, for sure. Are you ready?
1. Disconnect outdoor hoses and turn off the water to them if you can.
2. Stock supplies in the car - blanket, water, some salt or kitty litter, maybe even a shovel, in case you get stuck!
3. Open cabinet doors or leave a small stream of water running for pipes on outside walls.
4. Watch for ice dams on the roof - rock salt in socks slung over the gutter to the roof can help provide a relief point for water to drain.
5. Be careful with space heaters - proper extension cords, keep combustibles away from them, no propane heaters or generators inside!
