As the nation entered the 1930s and was coping with the Great Depression, few could have imagined establishing a new business. An Indianapolis native, he astonished friends and associates by going into the insurance business and starting what would later become McGowan Insurance Group, Inc. The agency has succeeded far beyond its founder's dreams. Eighty years later, as these dreams continue, McGowan Insurance Group is perfectly situated in downtown Indianapolis. and grandson Hugh M. McGowan at the helm. We remain focused on our founding small-company principles of service, professionalism and a caring attitude, ensuring that growth and success don’t get in the way of those core commitments upon which the agency was founded. Our success is due to strong client relationships, outstanding employees and community and industry involvement. From its humble beginnings, McGowan Insurance Group, Inc. has grown into one of the largest and most respected independent insurance firms not only in Indiana, but also nationally.

🌟Employee Spotlight: Janell Willingham🌟

This week, we're excited to shine the spotlight on Janell Willingham from our Commercial Lines Department!

Janell is a wonderful teammate who is always willing to lend a hand whenever needed. No matter how busy the day gets, she is quick to jump in and assist others, making her an invaluable resource to both her coworkers and clients. Her kindness, patience, and extensive knowledge help create a supportive environment for everyone around her.

When she's not at work, Janell stays busy keeping up with her growing family. In 2026, her daughter welcomed a new baby, her son got married, and she's eagerly awaiting the arrival of her third grandchild any day now! As Janell puts it, "Who has time for hobbies?!"

When she does find a little time for herself, she enjoys traveling solo and embracing the freedom of exploring at her own pace. Camping, hiking, and walking the shores of Lake Michigan are some of her favorite ways to unwind. She's also a big fan of seeing Goose perform live whenever she gets the chance.

Fun Fact: Janell once won a game show while on a flight to Las Vegas!

✨ Employee Spotlight: Becky Crafton ✨

This week, we're excited to shine the spotlight on Becky Crafton! Becky has been wonderful support in our Rushville office. She is always ready to help, dependable, and responsive to any question that comes her way. Her willingness to jump in, collaborate, and support her teammates makes a difference every day. Her hard work and team-first attitude have been greatly appreciated, and we're grateful for all she does to help our team succeed.

Outside of work, Becky enjoys operating a small horse farm with her husband and spending time reading. She is actively involved in heavyweight draft horse pulling contests and leads worship at her church. When she's looking for her next great read, you'll likely find her picking up anything written by Abby Jimenez.

Fun Fact: The largest horse on her farm weighs over 2,000 pounds!

This week, we're excited to spotlight Kelley, one of our outstanding Life Insurance Specialists based in our Lafayette office!

Kelley is known for being responsive, friendly, and incredibly detail-oriented. Whether she's helping clients navigate life insurance options or supporting her teammates, she consistently takes the time to find the right answers, not just the quick ones. Her commitment to accuracy, service, and doing what's best for our clients makes her a valued member of our team.

When she's not at work, Kelley enjoys cruising through the Caribbean and exploring new islands. At home, you'll often find her immersed in a painting, diamond dot project, or another creative craft. She treasures spending time with family and friends, participates in a small group through her church, and proudly supports her husband and son at the countless concerts and shows they're involved in. As Kelley puts it, she's definitely their #1 fan!

Last week, our teams proudly participated in our annual Day of Caring. Throughout the week, teams across all regions volunteered at local food banks to help address food insecurity in our communities. Together, employees from our offices across the state served at 10 different locations, contributing more than 190 volunteer hours to support this important cause.

Alicia consistently goes above and beyond to provide exceptional support, always putting clients first and ensuring their needs are met with care, professionalism, and attention to detail.

When she's not at work, Alicia enjoys spending time with her family, trying new restaurants, traveling, and working in her yard. She is also passionate about giving back to the community and has helped organize and support local fundraisers for family and friends.
