Today I’m celebrating 14 years with Ruoff Mortgage, and I’m incredibly grateful for the journey!

After more than 30 years in the mortgage industry, I can say that where you work—and the people you work alongside—really matters. For the past 14 years, I’ve had the opportunity to grow my business, lead an amazing team, build lasting relationships with Realtors and business partners, and most importantly, help thousands of families achieve their homeownership goals. 🏡💚

One of my favorite parts of this career is that no two homebuyers are exactly alike. Whether someone is buying their very first home, moving up, relocating, investing, or refinancing, I still love helping people understand their options and create a mortgage plan that makes sense for them.

A little friendly competition for a great cause! Our Ruoff family along with our referral partners enjoyed a day of kickball while supporting Second Helpings and its mission to fight hunger in Indianapolis. Together, we raised more than $3,000 worth of food to help provide meals to those in need.

Proud to be part of a team that gives back to our community. Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and helped make the event a success!

Our realtor Frank and Brenda Tinsley met us at Amys office which helped those first moments not feel so awkward or uncomfortable.. Amy was so sweet to listen to our story of feeling the uncertainty of this whole process since we had lived in the same home for 41 years and was totally out of touch with the process. Also we informed her of our situation of not owning a computer or laptop. She immediately put our minds at ease and assured us everything could be handled with just our phones and email and with Loan Butler. Bless her heart for walking is through verbally and via text.
Amy literally walked us through every step with great warmth and understanding. She also showed us how we could buy this beautiful condo before first selling our home to insure the great deal on the condo didn't get away. That was truly a blessing. All in all we couldn't have done this without her and Sarah and all the behind the scenes people at Rouof. You all helped put us in our forever home here on earth so we can enjoy the rest of our retirement years.

🏡 Do you automatically assume a 30-year fixed mortgage is your best option?

I was recently working through loan options with a homebuyer who mentioned something important: “I may be relocated in the couple of years.”

That completely changes the conversation.

A 5/1 ARM gives you a fixed interest rate for the first 5 years, with the loan payment still amortized over 30 years. In the scenario we reviewed, the ARM offered a lower initial rate and a lower monthly payment than the 30-year fixed option.

That doesn’t mean an ARM is right for everyone—but it’s definitely worth understanding.

A few questions I like to ask:
- How long do you realistically expect to own the home?
- Could your job relocate you?
- Is this your “forever home” or your next home?
- Would a lower payment today help you accomplish other financial goals?

There is also no prepayment penalty, so you aren't required to keep the mortgage for five years.

The best mortgage isn't always about choosing the most familiar loan. It’s about choosing a loan structure that fits your plans.
