Today we honor Indigenous Peoples' Day, recognizing the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Indigenous nations.

Here in Indianapolis, we are on the land of the Myaamia (Miami), Kaskaskia, and Kiikapoi (Kickapoo) peoples. Together, we can build a more equitable future.

Happy Fire Prevention Week!🧯

One of the most important ways to protect yourself from fires: smoke alarms. But what good is a smoke alarm if it doesn't work or the batteries are dead? When you have working smoke alarms, the risk of dying in a home fire drops by 60% (NFPA).

Here are some tips:
-test your smoke alarms once a month
-replace alarms when they are 10 years old or don't sound when tested
-install alarms outside of each sleeping area and inside each bedroom
-consider buying combination fire and carbon monoxide alarms, especially if you have a gas stove
-have a fire escape plan and practice it twice a year
