As we begin to see verdicts like this across the country, we should remind everyone that insurance is typically a very thin margin industry... when nuclear verdicts like this happen, it carries an undeniable ripple effect throughout the marketplace, where everyone is going to see increased pricing, reductions in coverage and carriers closing operations entirely... so what can you do to protect your business...the first step is talking to your insurance agent and discussing your risk management programs...discuss your coverage limits and deductibles. Can your business sustain/afford an $8M verdict...even with insurance ?
