🚨Grandparent Scams are on the Rise!

Scammers may call older adults pretending to be a grandchild or family member in trouble. They might claim they've been in an accident, arrested, injured, or need emergency money right away.

They often ask you to keep it a secret and send money through gift cards, wire transfers, cryptocurrency, or payment apps.

Scammers can also manipulate phone numbers on Caller ID to make them appear to be from a trusted source and can even use voice cloning technology to imitate familiar voices to make calls appear legitimate.

The National Council on Aging (NCOA) advises you to:
✅ Verify their identity before sending money.
✅ Call them directly using a phone number you already have.
✅ Check with another trusted family member or friend.
✅ Never send money unless you're sure it's really them.

A call, email, text, or pop-up claiming there's a problem with your computer could be a tech support scam.

The National Council on Aging (NCOA) advises you to watch for these red flags:
✅ Unsolicited calls, emails, or pop-ups about computer problems.
✅ Requests for remote access to your device.
✅ Demands for payment using gift cards, payment apps, wire transfers, or other hard-to-trace methods.
✅ Unexpected refund offers that require you to provide banking information.

👉 Protect Yourself: Never give remote access to your computer or share personal or financial information with someone who contacts you unexpectedly. If you're ever unsure or something feels off, contact our Customer Care Team at (800) 349-2814 for assistance.
