We are very grateful to LaSalle St. Securities for inviting Nelson Cover to participate on their peer panel in Chicago about what it means to be a next generation advisor.

The discussion included three topics, and three conversations worth having:
• How are you putting artificial intelligence to work inside your practice?
• The great wealth transfer and what it means as trillions move between generations?
• What it really takes to succeed and continue to build and existing practice?

Chell Financial is 60 years old and three generations in, so the final question means a lot to us. We continue to build and optimize our business to best serve our clients and increase the value we provide them.

The best part of this experience was the room itself. A group of advisors trading ideas openly, all striving to make their businesses the best they can be.

Oil shocks do not just affect what you pay at the pump. They ripple through the global economy in ways most investors do not fully understand.

We have been getting a lot of questions from clients about what the impact of rising oil prices means for their portfolios. So here is a breakdown of how an oil shock typically unfolds and what it means for your money:

The four phases of an oil shock:

1. Oil Price Spike:
Rapidly rising oil prices usually begin with a geopolitical conflict or supply disruption. Energy costs surge almost immediately and consumers feel it quickly.

2. Inflation Shock:
Higher energy costs push headline inflation up across the board. Anything that is transported or produced using energy becomes more expensive. This puts the Federal Reserve in a difficult position where they cannot cut rates even if the economy is slowing.

3. Demand Destruction:
As prices rise and credit tightens, people and businesses spend less. Growth slows down. This is where portfolios that are not properly diversified can start to feel real pain.

4. Growth Break
Recession risk rises. At this point the Fed is typically forced to ease, but the damage to growth has already been done. An initial inflation pulse converts into deflation.

The key thing to understand is that each phase builds on the last and lags behind it. By the time most investors react, the opportunity has already shifted.

This is exactly why having an all-weather financial plan built for multiple market environments matters. We do not build portfolios for one scenario. We build them to hold up across all of them.

There is a question we ask every new client that stops most of them in their tracks.

"Do you have a financial plan or do you just have investments?"

They are not the same thing. And for high-income earners, the difference can be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars if not millions over a lifetime.

A portfolio manages your money. A financial plan manages your life.

Here is what a real financial plan includes that a standalone portfolio never will:

• A retirement income strategy: Not just a balance, but an income plan for the rest of your life.

• Tax planning: Structuring your accounts and withdrawals to maximize efficiency and keep more of what you earn.

• Estate planning coordination: Making sure your wealth transfers to the people you choose, the way you intend.

• Insurance and risk analysis: Protecting everything you have built from the unexpected.

• Education planning: Funding your family's future without derailing your own.

• A written plan that evolves with you through career changes, market shifts, and life events.

Many people working with a broker have a managed portfolio. Far fewer have a comprehensive financial plan.

At Chell Financial, we have been building complete financial plans for Brevard County families for over 60 years. Not just managing money. Building futures.

Not sure which one you have? That is exactly the conversation we would love to have with you.

When the market drops, your phone lights up. The news gets loud and the urge to act can feel overwhelming.

Here’s what we tell our clients: This feeling is normal. Acting on it is where people get hurt. We go through the same emotions as everybody else, but instill a sense of discipline. This is what makes us professionals.

Market volatility is not a sign that something is broken. It’s a feature of investing, not a flaw. And historically, the investors who stay the course consistently outperform the ones who try to time their way out of it.

What we focus on when markets get rocky:

• Your plan was built for this. Downturns are already accounted for in a properly constructed portfolio.

• Volatility creates opportunity. Some of the best buying opportunities in history came during the worst headlines.

• Emotional decisions are the biggest threat to long-term wealth. Not the market itself.

Our job isn’t to predict the market. Nobody can do that consistently.

Our job is to make sure that whatever the market does, your financial future stays on track. That’s what 60 years of guiding clients through bull markets, recessions, and everything in between has taught us.

Feeling uneasy about your portfolio? Let’s talk through it.

“Are you a fiduciary?”

We get asked this all the time. And we love it — because it means people are starting to ask the right questions.

So here’s the straight answer: Yes. As CFP® professionals, we are held to the fiduciary standard. Always.

But let’s talk about what that actually means for you — because it’s more important than most people realize.

The financial industry has two standards:

The Suitability Standard
• Advisors only need to recommend something “suitable” for you
• Not necessarily the best option or the lowest cost
• That gap between suitable and optimal can cost you thousands over a lifetime

The Fiduciary Standard
• Legally and ethically required to act in YOUR best interest
• Not what pays the highest commission or hits a sales quota
• What is genuinely best for you and your family — full stop

At Chell Financial, we’ve operated this way for over 60 years — long before fiduciary became a buzzword.

We’re also not tied to proprietary products. That means when we make a recommendation, we’ve looked at the full landscape of options and chosen what we truly believe is right for your situation.

When you sit across the table from us, you never have to wonder whose side we’re on.

We’re on yours. We always have been.

Towards Prosperity Together.

When you hand someone the keys to your financial future, you should know exactly who’s driving.

That’s why the CFP® designation matters.

Anyone can call themselves a financial advisor. The CFP® mark means something different — it means I’ve earned the right to sit across from you and say: I know what I’m doing, and I’m legally obligated to put you first.

Here’s what that means for you in practice:

• Your interests come first — always

As a CFP® professional, I’m held to a fiduciary standard. That means every recommendation I make has to be in YOUR best interest — not driven by commissions, not influenced by product quotas. Just what’s right for you.

• A plan that covers everything

Not just investments. Your full financial picture — retirement, taxes, estate planning, education, insurance — all working together as one cohesive strategy.

• Expertise that’s been tested

The CFP® exam is one of the most demanding in the financial industry. Rigorous coursework, thousands of hours of experience, and ongoing education every two years. This isn’t a weekend certificate.

• Independence you can trust

At Chell Financial, we’re not tied to proprietary products. We look at the full landscape of options and recommend what genuinely fits your situation.

Our clients don’t just get a financial plan.

They get a partner — one with 60 years of family legacy and a commitment to this community that runs deep.

Towards Prosperity Together.

"Are you actually qualified to manage my money?"

It's a fair question. And honestly — more people should be asking it.

Here's something most people don't know: anyone can call themselves a "financial advisor." No license required. No exam. No oversight. Just a business card and a pitch.

That's why FINRA created BrokerCheck — a free tool that lets you look up any financial professional in seconds.

At Chell Financial, we've never had anything to hide. In fact, we encourage every prospective client to look us up before they ever sit down with us.

🔍 Here's what BrokerCheck shows you:
✅ Licenses and credentials — are they actually qualified?
✅ Employment history — where have they worked and for how long?
✅ Customer complaints or disputes — has anyone had a problem with them?
✅ Regulatory actions — have they ever been investigated or sanctioned?
✅ Financial disclosures — bankruptcies, judgments, and more

We've been serving Brevard County families for over 60 years. Our record speaks for itself.

Do your homework. You've worked too hard for anything less.
