COX COMMUNICATIONS' PROPOSAL DRAWS PROTESTS FROM NEIGHBORS

Should a broadband fiber internet substation be located in a residential area? Some residents in Independence don't think so. The Independence Planning and Zoning Commission on Tuesday voted to delay a vote until August concerning a conditional use permit request from Cox Communications, which is proposing construction of a utility substation at 401 N. 10th. This is at the northwest quadrant of the intersection of 10th and Chestnut streets. Some residents are opposed to the proposal.
