A simple budgeting framework:

50% → essentials
30% → lifestyle
20% → savings

Without structure, money becomes reactive instead of intentional.

April is Financial Literacy Month.

And it’s a great reminder that small, consistent knowledge can lead to big financial outcomes over time.

Growing and preserving wealth

Throughout this month, I’ll be sharing simple, practical insights you can use to strengthen your financial foundation.

No complexity.

Just clear, actionable knowledge.

If you’re looking to build more clarity and confidence in your financial decisions, follow along this month.

What builds confidence in investing conversations?

According to a 2023 market research study commissioned by New York Life Investment Management and conducted by RTi Research — which included a national online survey of 881 investors along with qualitative focus groups — many women expressed a strong desire for deeper understanding when discussing investments.

The findings highlighted a consistent theme:

Education drives confidence.

Participants indicated they want to better understand how their money works, feel more comfortable discussing risk, and play an active role in financial decisions.

The broader takeaway is that clarity matters.

Effective financial strategies may involve:

• Clear, straightforward explanations
• Visual frameworks to illustrate concepts
• Open discussion around risk tolerance
• Defined action steps and expectations

When communication is structured and collaborative, confidence tends to follow.

The numbers tell a larger story.

In a 2023 market research study commissioned by New York Life Investment Management and conducted by RTi Research — which included a 20-minute online survey of 881 investors and qualitative focus groups — many women expressed dissatisfaction not primarily tied to investment returns, but to their overall experience in financial conversations.

The common themes were feeling:

Not fully heard
Not fully included
Not fully confident

The broader takeaway is this: communication and collaboration matter.

Strong financial strategies are built through dialogue, not direction.

A thoughtful financial professional should:

Ask questions before offering solutions
Clearly explain the reasoning behind recommendations
Create space for collaboration and shared decision-making

If your financial conversations feel one-sided, that may be worth reflecting on.

Nearly half of women say they experience inequality in investing conversations. Many report feeling talked down to or not fully heard.

In fact, 89% of women say it’s important their advisor treats them like an equal.

If you’ve ever left a meeting feeling more confused than confident, you’re not alone.

Performance is not the only factor that matters.

Respect is.
Being treated as an equal is.
Having someone who listens is.

Financial strategies should feel collaborative, not transactional.

If you want a second opinion or simply a more empowering conversation, I’m happy to be a resource.
