I've been serving clients for years, and there are a few things I wish I had known when I first started.

The first? **People don't buy insurance—they buy trust.** The policy matters, but knowing someone will answer the phone when life happens matters even more.

Second, **listening is more important than talking.** The more questions I ask, the better I can help. Every person's story is different.

And honestly? The longer I do this, the less I think my job is about insurance. It's about helping people feel informed, confident, and cared for when they're making important decisions.

I'm still learning every single day, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

This happens more than you'd think. The grandkids come to visit, someone mentions Medicare over dinner, and suddenly you're the family expert whether you signed up for that role or not.

Or maybe it's a parent. A sibling. A neighbor who pulled you aside at church. Someone who needs help and doesn't know where to begin.

Here's what I tell people in that situation:

👨‍👩‍👧 Start with what they have. Do they have Medicare Part A and Part B? Do they know?
👨‍👩‍👧 Find out when they turn 65 or when their current coverage ends. Timing matters more than most people realize.
👨‍👩‍👧 Don't let them make decisions based on what worked for someone else. Everyone's situation is different.
👨‍👩‍👧 Connect them with an agent who will actually take the time to walk them through it.

That's what we're here for.

I got into Medicare because I realized how confusing it is.

People spend decades working hard, paying into the system, and then suddenly they're expected to understand Parts A, B, C, D, supplements, penalties, enrollment periods... It's overwhelming.

One conversation has always stayed with me. I met someone who delayed asking questions because they didn't want to "bother anyone." By the time we talked, they had missed an enrollment window and ended up paying more than they needed to.

That stuck with me.

No one should feel embarrassed to ask questions about Medicare. It's complicated, and that's exactly why I do what I do.

If I can help one person understand their options before they make an expensive mistake, then I've done my job.

No agenda. No to-do list.

Sunday starts with church—resetting my heart and spending time with my church family.

Then it's home. The house is clean. The garden is taken care of. My workout is done. I don't have a physical list—or even a mental one—running through my head.

Now it's time to be on the lake with family and friends. The kids are giggling on the lily pad, water guns are flying, conversations go a little deeper than usual, and we laugh until our bellies hurt.

That's my perfect summer Sunday. ☀️💙

This is one of the biggest misconceptions I run into and I want to clear it up once and for all.

Most people think October is the only time they can do anything with their Medicare. And for a lot of situations that's true. But not all of them.

There are Special Enrollment Periods that allow you to make changes outside of AEP. Things like:

📋 Moving to a new area
📋 Losing other coverage you had
📋 Qualifying for extra help with costs
📋 Certain changes to your current plan
📋 Turning 65 and enrolling for the first time

If something has changed in your life this year, there's a good chance you don't have to wait until October to address it.
This is exactly the kind of thing worth a quick conversation about before you assume your hands are tied!
