Spring is right around the corner, and that means it's time to start planning Donuts on the Driveway events for this year.

If you would like to host a small, casual neighborhood gathering for an hour or so on your driveway or front yard, send us a Facebook message or email [email protected].

Despite the name, it doesn't have to be donuts, or even a morning event. We've had weeknight and Sunday afternoon get-togethers with cookies, cake, and root beer floats, for examples.

While city workers clean up the roads, we would like to encourage everyone who is able to shovel their sidewalks. Shoveled sidewalks make our community safer and more hospitable.

If you have the physical ability and time, shoveling a neighbor's sidewalk is a great way to be a good neighbor, especially if they are unable to do so themselves.

As City of Hutchinson - Government crews continue to clear streets, we want to encourage people who are able to clear a path on your sidewalks, whether with a shovel or snowblower, to help keep all our neighbors safe. Today would also be a good day to check in on elderly neighbors.
