Did you know that I write SURETY BONDS (title bonds) for vehicles, trailers, ATV's, RV's, and boats?

If you buy something without a title, I know the process you need to go through, have the state forms on file, and I can write the bond required by the vehicle registration office. Takes me about 10 minutes!

Had a walk-in this morning, referral from my sweet friend Steve N Marie Castecka, and started talking about needing health insurance, the changes with the Affordable Care Act, Medicare, subsidies, etc... and very quickly I realized we need to call Brynn Thompson!

"Y'all call Brynn" is going to become a regular saying in my office! 936-661-0057

*I'll write some group health and life insurance occasionally, but I haven't kept up with all the individual health insurance marketplace changes, tax implications, etc.

"vehicle" is a covered peril on most homeowner's insurance policies, at least the ones I write! Hopefully the parent of the teen driver has auto liability, which will cover this damage.

PSA! If you sell a vehicle, please do more than just remove it from your insurance! Especially if you sell it to an individual!

Fill out the VTR-346 TXDMV form (see link below), or ask my office to help you with it! Notify the TXDMV that you sold the vehicle so that you aren't liable for accidents, parking tickets, toll road charges, that the new owner may rack up. Many times the new owner doesn't transfer the title right away, sometimes not at all.

I've got an open claim for a client right now on a truck that he sold months ago. Not sure the exact details, but it seems the new owner didn't transfer the title, and may not have had insurance (or adequate coverage) at the time of the accident. Accident occurred in September where a car changed lanes last minute and hit the new pickup owner's trailer from behind. This wasn't necessarily the pickup driver's fault, and was most likely the other driver's fault. The driver and passenger of the car died from injuries sustained in the accident. The family of the deceased at-fault driver and passenger has filed a lawsuit, even though the accident was most likely their family member's fault. The family, or their personal injury lawyer, somehow discovered my client's insurance policy information and have filed a claim. My client has no insurable interest in the vehicle and was in now way involved in the accident. The claim will most likely be denied, but it's been a big hassle for my client.

Money hungry people and personal injury lawyers will try to get money wherever and however they can! And what makes this personal injury claim even more outrageous, is that the deceased driver and passenger were in their 80's!
