I worked out of the Fountain Valley warehouse 1975-1977 right out of high school. Was their driver, delivering interoffice mail and office supplies. Drove to all the So. California branches 5 days a week (130 mile round trip). Loved it, and met some wonderful people working at the branches. Ate a lot of leftovers from the near daily luncheons. Still live near the main Huntington Beach branch. Drop a line. What years and branch did you work?

Some were tear downs, others re-purposed. Only the branches I was involved with are posted, as I no clue of branches after 1977. Help me identify / verifying the original buildings. Adding a story about your branch is welcomed. Do you have a photo of your branch? Please post.

One of the promotional freebies. A personalized notepad as one of Mercury Saving's promotional gifts. These where printed at the Fountain Valley Warehouse. One of my chores was to cut this paper ( from 8x16' x 800 to 1000 sheets at a time on a large hydraulic cutter ) Shrink wrap them, mail them. Which I then put on another hat and was postman by sorting all the envelopes by zip code into about 18-20 mail bags and delivering to H.B. post office on Warner Ave.
I would also deliver the non mailed notepads to the 7 local Southern California branches. ( And eat more carrot cake )

January 20, 1990, Mercury S&L Ordered to Halt Lending, Investments.
The End of Mercury Savings as we knew it.
I worked there back in 1975-77 as a driver. I drove to every branch 5 days a week. I met some very nice people and
ate a lot of left over turkey sandwiches and carrot cake from the almost daily luncheons. I am now sick of carrot cake. But was good while it lasted!
