Think of bookkeeping as the foundation and accounting as the big picture.

You need both, but bookkeeping always comes first.

Every business reaches a point where doing it all yourself no longer works.

Here’s how to know who you need and when:

Bookkeeper - When your books are behind, you’re guessing your profit, or tax time feels stressful because nothing is organized.

Tax accountant or tax pro - When you need help with taxes, compliance, filings, business structure, or making sure you’re not overpaying in taxes.

CFO - When you’re growing fast and need bigger picture support like forecasting, cash flow planning, budgeting, or strategic guidance.

The right financial support can take a huge weight off your plate and help your business grow with clarity.

Who do you think you’re ready for next?

While it’s my personal belief that coffee should always be deductible, the IRS disagrees.

In order to claim coffee as a business expense deduction, the purpose of the coffee has to be business related.

This means that the coffee provided in the office has to be freely available to all employees.

Or, if you’re getting coffee outside of the office, it must be done with a client or colleague for it to be considered a legitimate business purpose.

Lastly, keep those receipts!

FOCUS on the top three tasks that will deliver the greatest impact.

These should be your top three priorities for the day, or where your focus should be.

Another tip is to ask yourself, “What can I delegate?” Is there anything on that list that could be assigned to someone else first thing in the morning? If so, do it!

Take action consistently and watch your productivity skyrocket.

It’s not the challenges, competition, or circumstances holding you back—it’s the limiting beliefs that keep you stuck.

But guess what? You can crush those limiting beliefs! Here’s how:

1. Write down those negative thoughts and bring them out into awareness.
2. Ask yourself: Is this really true, or is it just fear talking?
3. Replace with empowering thoughts. Turn “I can’t” into “I’m capable,” and “It’s too hard” into “I’m up for the challenge.”
