☀️ The sun is out, the patios are packed, and it seems like everyone who spent the winter indoors has suddenly remembered they own a vehicle.

With more drivers, cyclists, motorcyclists, and pedestrians sharing the road, accidents can happen when you least expect them and, while nobody plans for it, a little preparation can make a claim much less stressful.

🚗 If you're involved in an accident:

📸 Take photos of the vehicles and scene
📝 Exchange information with the other driver
👀 Gather witness information if available
📍 Note the location and time
📞 Reach out to us right away! We can help get your claim started and guide you through the process

Think of it like packing sunscreen; you hope you won't need it, but you're glad you have it when the time comes.

A client asked me this week, “What’s the difference between Broad Coverage and Special Coverage… and which one do I have on my house?”

Honestly, it’s a great question because insurance policies aren’t exactly known for being light bedtime reading. 😅

So I walked him through it over the phone:

Broad Coverage or Named Coverage = coverage for specific listed risks.
Special Coverage or Open Coverage = broader protection, covering most things unless specifically excluded.

Then I got to reassure him:
“Good news! You DO have Special Coverage. We always add it for that extra peace of mind at the start of the policy.” 👏

To make things even easier, I screenshot the exact section of his policy showing the coverage details and emailed it over to him while we were on the call.

A few minutes later he said, “Okay, that actually makes way more sense now.”

And honestly, that’s one of my favorite parts of the job; helping people feel informed and confident about what they’re paying for, because insurance shouldn’t feel confusing or overwhelming.

Sometimes all it takes is a quick phone call and someone willing to explain things in plain language. ☕📞

Summer in Southwest Michigan is officially here ☀️

Which means it’s almost impossible to leave the house without seeing:

🚤 a boat headed to the lake
🏕️ a camper headed north
🚗 or someone towing both with a vehicle they hope is covered correctly 😅

A lot can change in a year; new drivers, home projects, campers, boats, side businesses, or that 'quick DIY project'. Those updates can affect your insurance more than most people realize.

The good news? Reviewing your coverage is usually easier than backing a trailer into a campsite on the first try 😉

We recently had a tough conversation with a client...

Like many homeowners, they had no idea the line running from the house to the street was actually their responsibility and they didn’t have Service Line Coverage on their policy.

Turns out... Tree roots don’t care how expensive plumbing repairs are. 🌳😅

Things like aging pipes, ground shifting, and those sneaky roots can lead to costly repairs before you ever notice a problem.

This is one of the reasons we usually recommend and include Service Line Coverage whenever possible unless a client asks us not to. We’ve just seen too many situations where a small coverage addition could have saved someone a major expense.

Construction season - or Orange Cone season for us natives - in Michigan is officially here. 🚧

Builders are booked out.
Crews are moving nonstop.
And somewhere right now, somebody is standing around with their phone out while the rest of the crew is working. 😅
