In July of 2018 at the Columbia County Volunteer Firefighters Convention, Fingar Insurance sold hot dogs and water at the parade raising $1,000! We in turn donated the proceeds to the Columbia County Fire Chief's Association - Burned Out Victim's Fund.

Not all of these Cancer Policies are equal. ESIP's Cancer coverage does not require "...completion of the mandatory OSHA Respiratory Medical Evaluation questionnaire contained in 29 CFR 1910.134, Appendix C" as does at least one major competitor.

CANCER BENEFIT UPDATE

Many VFDs are preparing their budget for next year and have deadlines looming. This is a costly item and nothing has been approved yet. The Public Comment period ends August 20th. Our carriers expect to release their rates shortly thereafter...perhaps by 9/1/2018. The premium per FF being floated around is in the $225 - $250 range. This will only apply to those who meet the eligibility requirement:

ONLY FIREFIGHTERS WHO ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THE COVERAGE SHOULD BE ADDED TO THE CENSUS:

1. FIVE OR MORE YEARS OF FAITHFUL AND ACTUAL FIREFIGHTING SERVICE AS AN INTERIOR FIREFIGHTER;

2. HAS SUBMITTED PROOF OF FIVE YEARS OF INTERIOR STRUCTURAL FIREFIGHTING SERVICE BY PROVIDING VERIFICATION THAT HE OR SHE HAS PASSED AT LEAST FIVE ANNUAL FIT TESTS

3. SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF A PHYSICAL
EXAMINATION PRIOR TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF DUTIES AS AN INTERIOR FIREFIGHTER, WHICH FAILED TO REVEAL EVIDENCE OF CANCER
