In less than 2 weeks the students in Caldwell County Schools will once again walk through the doors for another fantastic school year. This means that ALL Elementary and Middle School students will once again receive a folder provided by the NC Farm Bureau Agents in Caldwell County. I am blessed to work with great agents in the Lenoir and Hudson offices that give of their own money to sponsor these each year.

This week it was my honor to deliver this year’s folders to Hudson Elementary and Hudson Middle School.

Hoping that every student, teacher, and staff member has a terrific year!

It’s Contractor Fraud Awareness Week, and with hurricane season beginning June 1, Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey reminds North Carolinians to be cautious when hiring contractors after a storm.

Before hiring a contractor for repairs:

✔️ Verify the contractor is licensed and insured
✔️ Get estimates and contracts in writing
✔️ Never pay the full amount up front
✔️ Be cautious of high-pressure sales tactics
✔️ Contact your insurance company before starting major repairs

After a storm:
📸 Take photos of damage
🧾 Keep receipts for temporary repairs
📞 Report suspected fraud or scams immediately
