fans complaining is the most spoiled thing in sports. ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Since 2000:
๐Ÿ† 2 rings
โšพ 75 postseason wins, 3rd most in MLB
๐Ÿ”ฅ 7 straight ALCS appearances (2017โ€“2023), 2nd-longest LCS streak in MLB history (, 8 straight NLCS, 1991โ€“1999)
๐Ÿ’ฐ $42M per playoff win, the best value in baseball

The spent $2.38B for 2 playoff wins. TWO.

We went from three straight 100-loss seasons to seven straight ALCS trips. Be grateful, H-Town. ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿค˜๐Ÿผ

Who gets paid the most at every position in baseball? โšพ๐Ÿ’ฐ Swipe through. โžก๏ธ

Slide 1: The highest-paid player at every position, AL vs. NL
Slides 2 & 3: The top 3 at every position in each league, with their contracts

A few things jumped out at me:

๐Ÿ’ต Juan Soto makes $61.88M this year, the biggest salary in baseball. His didn't even make the playoffs. Neither did Lindor ($32.48M) or Semien ($26M).

๐Ÿ’ต Anthony Rendon is the AL's highest-paid third baseman at $38.57M, and he didn't play a single game. The Angels bought out the final year of his 7-year, $245M deal.

๐Ÿ’ต Our have FOUR players on the AL list: Altuve, Correa, Yordan and Walker. That's a lot of money to be watching the ALCS from home.

๐Ÿ’ต Out of 60 names, only TWO play for a team still alive: Josรฉ Ramรญrez of the and Christian Yelich of the . The don't have a single player on these lists.

The highest-paid players are on the couch. The teams that spent smart are still playing.

Which contract is the biggest bargain? Which one is the worst? ๐Ÿ‘‡

I've been saying money can't buy a ring. So I looked at the last 30 World Series champions to check myself. โšพ๐Ÿ“ŠThe truth?...

I've been saying money can't buy a ring. So I looked at the last 30 World Series champions to check myself. โšพ๐Ÿ“Š

The truth? Money usually DOES buy rings.

๐Ÿ’ฐ 22 of the last 30 champs ranked in the top 10 in payroll
๐Ÿ’ฐ 7 had the HIGHEST payroll in baseball
๐Ÿ’ฐ The average champion ranked 6.8 out of 30
๐Ÿ’ฐ Only one, the 2003 Marlins, came from the bottom half

That's why this October is so special. The $412M are home. The three teams left, ($142M, 19th), ($90M, 28th) and ($87M, 29th), would be the cheapest champion in 30 years.

And it's why the salary cap fight is real. Owners will point to 30 years of data. Players will point to this postseason. Both have a point.

What do you think? ๐Ÿ‘‡

MLB owners say baseball needs a salary cap for "competitive balance." This postseason just blew that argument up. โšพ๐Ÿ’ฐ

Look at who's still playing:

๐ŸŸ  Cleveland Guardians: $87M payroll (29th of 30)
๐ŸŸ  Tampa Bay Rays: $90M payroll (28th of 30)
๐ŸŸ  Milwaukee Brewers: $142M payroll (19th of 30)

Two of the three LOWEST payrolls in baseball are still alive. And the Brewers just SWEPT the $412M Los Angeles Dodgers, the most expensive team in the sport.

Meanwhile, the Mets spent $358M and didn't even make the playoffs.

With the CBA expiring this winter, owners want a cap and players are ready to fight it. But it's hard to cry "we can't compete" when the teams spending the least are the ones still playing in late October.

The problem isn't that some teams spend too much. It's that some owners spend too little and blame the system. Smart front offices, scouting and player development win. A cap mostly protects owners' profits.

Money can't buy a ring. A salary cap won't either.

What do you think? Does MLB โšพ need a salary cap? ๐Ÿ‘‡
